2014 WK2 engine coolant low?

My 2014 grand cherokee has 24k miles and the engine coolant level is like the attached picture. Took the pic in the morning. Is this something I should worry about? It's burning coolant? Should I ask the dealer to take a look? I do smell a little bit of odd when the rpm hits 6k-7k when merging from the ramp.

Nobody seems to use radiator dye and UV lights any more.
Have a competent mech pressure test your system.
Being a '14 I wouldn't suspect head gasket, etc. but if you ever see any white foam on your dipstick, check compression as well.

Could be pinhole somewhere or a microcrack in the various plastic areas.

I fill mine about half way, and used a Sharpie to mark the cold and hot levels, so when checking oil, can spot loss... which of course since I did that isn't happening.

Re: 2014 WK2 engine coolant low?

I've been wondering the same. Back in January, I observed the same condition on my 2014 Grand Cherokee. I have 23,000 miles on it...so maybe 22.xxx back then.

I went and bought a gallon of the special OAT coolant. I noticed that it is getting lower again. I already had my radiator replaced due to a leak so...either I am using the coolant or I have a leak.

I don't have the TSB, but there is one out for leaking thermostats. I had mine replaced and its a 2014 MY. Had the same issues with coolant disappearing

Does anyone know what TSB affecting the thermostat is referenced above?

Re: 2014 WK2 engine coolant low?

Can't help you with the tsb, but my '14 is 3 years old, and the reservoir is exactly where it was when it was new, half way between full and add when cold. You should get a pressure test, but that might not indicate a leak if it's very small. If it was me, I'd add to half way and keep an eye on it to see how quickly it's dropping. It's a closed system, and you shouldn't be "burning" coolant.

Not gonna lie man, I don't know what the TSB is and I never "found" it. The dealer said "there was a TSB" justifying the replacement of the thermostat. I only brought it up because it said some were leaking. I never put my eyes on the TSB. Just what I was told.

Re: 2014 WK2 engine coolant low?

The only TSB that is remotely close is for a thermostat that fails to close, setting a MIL, it's set because the engine is not able to warm up.

Re: 2014 WK2 engine coolant low?

My 2014 JGC Summit with Hemi, is only about 2 years old and has about 8200 miles on it. I don't drive it much. I have never noticed any leaks on my garage floor or anywhere I have parked outside.

Looks to be my where my level is, is about halfway between "full" and "add", which is where Jacko15's level is and has been ever since. I never checked the level of coolant when I bought mine brand new, so I can't be sure if my level hasn't been slowly falling or if my current level is just where the factory fills it to.

Jacko15 is my level and yours about the same?

Thanks!

Re: 2014 WK2 engine coolant low?

My factory fill was about where yours was on my 2014 shortly after I bought it. I bought some and took it up to full and it hasn't moved 3 years later. I think they seem to under fill a little from the factory
