When it doesn't crank the pedal is depressed and brake lights are on but the dash says "push brake pedal to start".

Happens occasionally but usually at worst possible time. Is this common & what is cause ? Been to the dealer once already and replaced the booster but still happening.

Yep, I would have said possible faulty micro switch in the brake pedal assembly.

Is now a star case. Second dealer visit Jeep had it for two weeks and returned. It is now at Jeep again for the third time for the same thing. Is an elderly widow owner with one car who says the GC is the most comfortable car she has driven. Has now been given a T&C and says her back hurts even when she looks at it.

How long must this go on before it is either fixed properly or replaced? (She bought it new about a year ago, has a lifetime maxcare warrenty, and is getting scared it will strand her somewhere). Can someone please help ?

Update: a month later, more dealer study, and still often no start but a new possible related issue: stops in drive & puts in Park to open garage door.

GC then refuses to move from Park to drive or reverse & must be left in driveway for a while before it will decide to move.

To me it seems the only common element is "push brake" but have seen the brake lights on when refusing to start.

The lady is becoming scared to drive the car. She bought the MaxCare Lifetime warranty not to have problems like this.

Is back at the Clermont dealer again.

And once again the dealer could not find anything though there was a big difference, this time once when she tried to start it I heard the starter engage (sound is distinctive) for a moment then quit before the engine started. To my knowledge, once the starting process begins it continues to completion. What could make it start to engage then quit ?

So we have a 15 that since new has not reliably started (even though brake lights are ON when start is pushed), does not reliably shift out of park, and now sometimes the starter engages, then quits. And dealer says "could not duplicate".

Lady is getting scared to drive it.

Could there be a flat spot on the starter? You could try Orlando Dodge on West Colonial Drive and see if they have better luck. There is an alternator rebuild shop at John Young Parkway and Old Winter Garden Road (on OWGR) southeast corner, and they may rebuild starters as well and may have an idea. Talk to the owners son. Good luck.

Dealer claims there are no codes (would make sense if does not know brake pedal is pushed). Anyone know if there is a continuity check on the brake sensor ? (Canbus ?)

Gave me an idea to put an indicator light on accessory power and starter solenoid power. That would tell if ACC is coming on or starter is receiving power.
