2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee-transmission problem

This is an update from an old post of mine. My problem still hasn't been resolved. When driving in "D" or "S" the transmission will change on its own to paddle shifting (-/+). There is no driver error by hitting the paddles by accident when this occurs. The engine light does not come on. This can happen at any speed and occurs randomly. Can happen 2 times in one day and then not happen again for a few weeks. I have had it into the dealer twice and no codes where found. The dealer was also not able to see it happen when test driving while in for service. The last dealer ran an update on the TCM but it happened again 2 days later doing 120km on the highway. On occasion at a lower speed it will go down into first gear and will display -1 instead of "d" as selected. Also the opposite can occur, when in paddle shift mode it will change back into "D". Both dealers have also called technical support with no similar reports. Dealer says they can't help unless they are able to see the problem happen which is so hard to do when it happens so randomly. I questioned the dealer if it happened what would they be able to do that they can't do now. Worried over long term what this is doing to my Jeep.

They could probably change the TCM. The dealer, if they wanted to, could probably push Jeep to authorize this. Or you might have to pester Jeep customer service.

Re: 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee-transmission problem

Odd. I've encounter two times where after startup, I've found myself in manual mode when I start rolling forward. Both times have been after reversing out of my garage or a parking space.

The result is, I can't confirm I didn't accidently hit the paddle. However, reading this thread makes me wonder if I should pay closer attention to where my hands are if it happens again.

I haven't had the opposite case happen. When I'm in manual, it stays in manual.

Re: 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee-transmission problem

It's either accidentally hitting a paddle, or in some cases may be a bad paddle switch which has an intermittent short (personally seen this...very annoying).
