2016 JGC Summit Metallic Rattle When Turning
I recently purchased my 2016 JGC Summit and has about 730 miles. Overall it's a great SUV and enjoying it. Unfortunately, there is a metallic rattle when turning about 15-20 MPH, such as turning at a corner block or long sweeping turn, such as entering a freeway on ramp. The rattle continues until the wheels are straight again. There's no vibration on the steering wheel and no signs of suspension problems.
I have taken it to the dealer twice already. The first time they cannot re-produce the problem even on a test drive. The dealer did hoist it and checked underneath the vehicle and found no problems. So I tentatively took it home and awaited for the rattle to return. Sure enough, about 2 miles down the road the rattle occurred when I took a right turn at the end of the corner block.
The second time I took it to the dealer, I managed to convince the service advisor to take a test drive with me so I can re-produce the rattle. I was able to re-produce the rattle on the test drive. He then informed me the vibration was 'normal' as part of the traction control system trying to keep the tires from slipping. Please keep in mind this was a sunny day, road was clear of debris, and taking the turn about 15-20 MPH. It was very hard for me to accept his response. He insisted it's normal and in short, basically saying 'just leave with it'. Frustrated, I drove home.
Luckily, there's another Jeep dealership about 20 miles from me and I have already made an appointment to get a second opinion. (Need to wait 2 weeks.)
I was wondering if any one else has experienced their JGC rattle when turning. I welcome any thoughts or suggestions what it might be.
