Can we agree that a particular defect needs to be reported by at least, oh, how about THREE people before you tar the whole vehicle as being plagued with problems?

A little logic and common sense would go a long way.
In no way did I say it was a huge problem with everyone’s WK because it's the first model year. I was simply referencing that the grand Cherokee has been in production for around 6 months, not to mention, his car was built in august. I'm saying with the massive amount of new technology and part designs in the Grand Cherokee, ALONG with it being in its first model year, some problems are bound to happen. I definitely said this problem is a design defect. Yup! How about you use a little common sense that you try to preach about to read and comprehend English. Thank you for taking my post out of context. Wow! Anyways, think about it, if you just paid $45,000(much more expensive over there) and your car has broken down twice in two weeks and left you stranded, I'm pretty sure you'd be pissed off. Going back to my original post, hopefully they can fix the problem and help prevent it from happening to anyone else in the future. Thanks Again.
Best of luck DuneCrawler.

Yea, I'll get back with you on that one LOL

I believe that Mercedes was in direct competition with Land Rover as far as off road goes about 5-10 years ago. But just like Jeep, Mercedes stepped away from it due to market change.

Re: 2nd Breakdown in just over 2 weeks!!!

Just brainstorming here...

I'm beginning to wonder if there are sensors in the transfer case that call a halt to the 4x4 fun if the computer thinks things might result in damage. In an older lever-actuated transfer case, the computer can't disconnect things, so you'd muddle on through, but potentially contribute to a later failure. With this thing, it might think "hey, you keep that up, you're breaking it," and disengage the front drive.

Honestly, of the issues reported, the "water fording" seemed to be more of a bad connecting rod in the engine. The "stuck in mud" isn't too worrisome (since nothing else made it through there), but might potentially raise an issue because the 4x4 system disengaged.

Dunecrawler might well have the biggest claim to something being potentially wrong, but unless and until we find out exactly what's going on, I'm not sure it's time to panic.

I do think saying things like "least capable EVER" is premature; if I'm not mistaken, that's been said about every single new vehicle Jeep has rolled out. When the CJ gave way to its replacement, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. And so on and so forth. It's going to take more time and more vehicles with issues before that becomes evident.

Re: 2nd Breakdown in just over 2 weeks!!!

Same transfer case as WK as far as I know, and I don't know of any reported issues with that.

Lever actuation hasn't been seen since Noah was a boy.

thats fair. i take that back.
youre right about stuff like the freak out after they killed the CJ as well.

electronics are great for making things easier for a typical driver, but the more computers and electronic gizmos you throw in a car, the more chances there are for one of those thingys to fail.

i dunno.

Did you ever get any explanation from the dealer on why the 4WD went out in your case?

I'm pretty sure as these issues get relayed back to Jeep that corrective measures will occur quickly. (production changes, TSBs, etc.) Every new platform has issues and guys like you and dune pushing the envelope helps every other WK2 owner and prospective owner. Many thanks for that.
