Re: 3.6 L Chrysler Pentasar engine problem

21k and no problems for me. I think it's a great engine so far.

It seems like a lot of the 2012 JK guys are reporting pretty bad ticking/knocking noises but I haven't seen that on the WK2 forums. I have noticed a slight ticking noise in my engine, but then again I've noticed it in every GM V8 I've ever owned, my wife's Corolla, and others, so I think it's just normal engine noise. Anyone else have any issues with this?

Re: 3.6 L Chrysler Pentasar engine problem

Full engine replacement at 13,000 so it is safe to say I've had an issue.

It was in the shop for about 4 days and I had it back for a couple months now with no issues so far.

Unhappy Re: 3.6 L Chrysler Pentasar engine problem

I have 17k and I am just starting to have issues...
A few occurences of blue smoke at cold start-ups not to mention that they actually used 5w20 instead of 5w30 during my last oil change...
However, I have been getting a lot of white smoke at cold start's that last about a minute; oil level is dropping but still in the safe zone! I am working with the dealer on this issue...

Re: 3.6 L Chrysler Pentasar engine problem

Silky smooth at 6k miles except for two minor issues.
  • Not as silky until the oil warms up.
  • A slight resonance at highway speed and moderate load, like climbing a 3% grade without downshifting.
