I haven't heard any noise ... yet.

Re: 3.6 Overland - Shudder? while in idle but driving in a parking lot

Finally heard back from engineering. They are recommending replacing the rear prop shaft for this noise issue. so it's been ordered. We will see if this resolves it.

No noise yet for me. It does seem to slow down fast at low speeds instead of coasting. Once again a symptom of the car being in a low gear like a standard shift.

Re: 3.6 Overland - Shudder? while in idle but driving in a parking lot

Update: Replacing the wheel bearing did nothing to get rid of the sound so they are now replacing the whole rear end on the Jeep.

I will post another update once they complete the swap in another week or so.

I have to say from your previous post I do think you have the same issue as me as the noise seems to be under the same conditions. They replaced the rear end on mine about a month ago and this did nothing to get rid of the noise even thought that sounds like that is where it is coming form. Now engineering is telling the dealer to replace the rear drive shaft. I will know this week if that resolves the issue.

Hopefully between the two cases / service departments one of us can get it sorted out and pass on the possible solution. Good luck with the drive shaft.

Well I just got word that replacing the drive shaft and ujoints did not resolve the issue. Now they think it is in the exhuast, muffler's are on back order. I would be totally shocked if this is the issue.

Well, you never know. On my '04 Volvo there was a horrendous noise and vibration that happened whenever it rained. Turns out the exhaust would rub on the driveshaft when the cold water hit the hot pipe and it contracted the exhaust in that one spot. A new hanger and a modified heat shield resolved the problem.

Yes anthing is possible. I will just have to wait and see what happens when they put the new exhaust on.

Re: 3.6 Overland - Shudder? while in idle but driving in a parking lot

Just bringing this up again to see if anyone else has this issue with the noise at low parking lot speed 5 to 8 mph coasting. Or if anyone has an update on the issue. I am still waiting for the next repair attempt. Although I can say the dealer has been doing everything possible to get it corrected.

Re: 3.6 Overland - Shudder? while in idle but driving in a parking lot

Looks like both our dealers are trying the same fixes. Mine goes in to have the diff replaced tomorrow as the wheel bearing did nothing for me.
