3.6 v6. Engine bay metallic sound

Hello all I have a 2014 JeepGrandCherokee Laredo. When I'm sitting idle I can hear a metallic sort of sound that rattles in the engine bay. It is towards the front like it may be on the serpentine belt. It isn't the fan and it doesn't cut in and out on anything. Makes me thing it may be the tensioner or similar. Anybody had any experience or shed some light.

Re: 3.6 v6. Engine bay metallic sound

Does it kind of sound like this?

I notice it especially when driving slowly or idling with my windows down in an area that allows for a good echo, like in between two parked cars for example.

If so I took it in and my dealer claims it's normal, but if you decide to take yours in I'd be interested what your dealer has to say.

Take the belt off to rule out any pulleys, tensioners, water pump, ac compressor, etc.... If the noise is still there, you can further troubleshoot it.

Have seen a few water pumps bite the dust as well as idler pulleys.
