5.7 8 speed

While the shifting of the 8 speed is very smooth does anyone notice when driving in the 25 to 35 mph range the torque converter locks up and it seem to lug the engine. This is just kind of annoying to me it seem like in this range I always want to step on the gas a little more to get it to unlock or just taking it out of eco mode works also.

Nope, cruise at 100+ at all times.

Have you had the TSB upflash done? Or is yours out of the date range?

Mine seemed to do similar just a bit lower down in speed, but yes, I know what you mean. After the TSB flash, plus a reset of the learning cells at my request, it seems to coast a bit better in the range just below what you mention.

Yes I did have the Tsb and it did improve the low speed coasting that your talking about, but what I am talking is with your foot on the gas maintaining say 30 mph the torque converter locks up and it almost feels like a manual trans that is in too high a gear.

Re: 5.7 8 speed

Are you sure the torque convertor is locked up? Could it possiblly just be lugging in 4 cylinder mode? If noticed this as well but just giving a little more gas smooths it out without shifting gears. Always thought it was lugging on 4 cylinders and smoothed out when it went back to eight.

+1... I bet it's going into Eco... Turn off Eco and see if that makes a difference.

Re: 5.7 8 speed

Is there any way to permanently disable Eco mode or at least not have it as the default setting when the vehicle starts?

Re: 5.7 8 speed

There is not a way to permanently disable ECO or change the default setting of it. I currently am running a diablo tune and have disabled MDS. As a result, I don't have to worry about 4 cylinders deactivating ever, but still suffer the low shift points of ECO if I forget to turn it off after starting the Jeep.
