5 months in: Brake Noise

Hi guys,
had my 2014 GC for 5 months and not alot of miles put on it, but i'm starting to hear squeaking noises when breaking in slow traffic, (does not happen while braking from higher speeds).

Also, I am experiencing the transmission shuddering that i have read about here.

anyone else having the braking issue? recommended fix? back to dealer?

cheers

Find a big parking lot in a high school or empty shopping center. Now you want to get up to about 70mph and then hit the brakes hard and get down to about 5mph, DO NOT COME TO A COMPETE STOP!!!!. Repeat, repeat, repeat and repeat. Now go and drive around w/o using the brakes for 5 minutes to give them a chance to cool. Return to parking lot and repeat the braking 5x,
then cool the brakes off. Do it one more time and see if squeaking has gone away. You may have glazed the pads. You want to smell the brakes and get them hot. You may have to this 5 times but try three and see if it works.

DO NOT COME TO A COMPETE STOP WHILE DOING THIS!!!!

Re: 5 months in: Brake Noise

What timing SLIKAZ! 14 Summit here with 13,000 miles and for the first time today I had two occasions of squealing at lower speed braking. I am not mechanical at all but dealership is a couple of blocks away and the service dept is outstanding. SO will stop by tomorrow and ask them about it

Re: 5 months in: Brake Noise

If they squeak a bit first thing in the morning on the first few stops, that's normal, although this doesn't sound like it.

Setout's outlined a bedding process for you which should solve the issue. IF it doesn't there is a TSB as someone mentioned and it does apply to the 14s: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0500513.pdf
