Just had window tint installed on my front windows. Decided to wash it because its beautiful here in PA. Upon doing so, I notice that my Grille is cracked straight across 2 of the slits on the grille.
There are no stone chips on the grille whatsoever. This makes me think it happened during transportation.
How long have you had it? I can't imagine that was overlooked during pre-delivery inspection and may be a tough case to prove that it occurred during transport. Good luck and let us know the outcome!
OP, how did you pick it up on 1/14 if you posted pictures after washing it on 1/6? Not trying to be confrontational, but maybe we can help you re-trace your steps and figure out how the grill got cracked.
Too much damage for a stone hit, but I suppose someone could have lightly backed into it. If you are sure that's not the case, try your dealer. If they won't help call Jeep CS.
That's not something easily overlooked picking it up from the dealer. Looks like it hit something high up or someone gave it a baseball bat treatment. Have any jealous neighbors or enemies? I can't see it cracking from stress and I doubt it was delivered that way.
Wow! It feels like yesterday when I picked it up. Oh yeah that is right. I picked it up on a Friday and on Monday or Tuesday they released an additional 1,000 dollars ALLY cash.
I think its hard to tell from the initial pics if there is damage or not. I would def still call the dealer and see what they say before going the insurance route.
The other possibility is a high rear bumper on the other vehicle, like a delivery truck, some types of cube van or a 'pup' semi trailer. When they are backing up they cannot see directly behind. And they might not even feel a small impact like the one that may have cracked your grille. Just for thought...
Seriously, I'd try the warranty route first. The dealer may help you in order to keep you as a customer. Contrary to what is written in this forum, there are good and reasonable dealers out there. If that doesn't work, then either have it repaired on your own or with insurance. Bare in mind that insurance companies really don't like repairing new vehicles.
