#6 Cylinder dead - told its not the Cyl head
Last weekend my wife was driving our 2012 v6 Jeep Cherokee and the check engine light started flashing while she was on the freeway. Within a matter of minutes, most of the other warning lights started appearing and as she was pulling off the freeway, the engine started sputtering and quickly shut off as she coasted into a parking lot. Chrysler towed the Jeep to the nearest dealer (Ventura Dodge) and they've been working on it since Monday. So far the only thing they've told us is that the #6 cylinder isn't firing. He said they flashed the computer and are now working their way through the electrical/fuel system to the cylinder head to see if they can ID the problem. When asked if this had to do with the head issue the Pentastar engine's have been experiencing, he said this appears to be something completely different. To be honest, I wont be surprised if they come back and say we need a new head. The nice thing they've been very nice and provided us with a rental during everything.
I searched the forum and didn't find anything similar and was wondering if anyone had any similar type of issues and/or things I should be asking when I talk to the dealer. I've seen a lot of threads where Jeeps have thrown mis-fire codes but nothing where the engine shuts down while driving. The Jeep currently has less than 18k miles on it.
