6-speed transmission clunk

I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland with 73k miles. I have recently noticed a "clunking" sound when I start from a dead stop. Maybe it has been going longer and I did not notice. Everything seems to work okay but the sound is a little concerning. Does anyone have any experience with a similar issue?

Much appreciated. Lee

Re: 6-speed transmission clunk

Should be a 5 speed in the 2011s. Mine does it too. Figured it was the limited slip rear differential rather than the tranny.

Re: 6-speed transmission clunk

Jumping on here, I have the same issue plus harder down shifting at higher speeds. Do you have stock tires size? Dealer told me you can't put bigger tires on the WK2 will cause tranny issues but can't tell me whats wrong with it.

Hi Jeepman3ski,

If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

Hi Andrea, I am going to use a different dealership when I follow up as they weren't logical on their reason on what is wrong. Also had a few issues with them servicing my jeep on other items. Figured its time for a new dealership.
