Same thing happened to me. I was trying to get the check box to change but couldn't. About 1/2 hour later I realized the illumination dial was all the way up.

Awesome! Will try that if I ever get my Jeep back.

Re: 8.4AN uconnect Nav problem 2014 Grand Cherokee

I have experienced a second instance of the problems I've described on the first page. All of a sudden the navi started showing me that i was some 2 blocks parallel of street i was actually driving on. It started with some crazy guidance, the dashboard arrows froze. I could not reset the unit for a few minutes - complete with engine off and exiting the car. I also noticed the BT connection for the phone was inactive, despite having made a phone call minutes before. the system reset itself and for the rest of the trip everything worked fine. I have logged another ticket with Jeep.

In fact a few days ago i suspect a mini incident similar to this but it was raining and i blamed poor GPS signal on a few seconds of ambiguous routing and display but the recovery was seamless.

Re: 8.4AN uconnect Nav problem 2014 Grand Cherokee

I just picked up mine on Friday at Koons. I get the first message, but XM says the Antenna is disconnected and the Nav compass is locked at N and shows me stuck in the middle of Austin, TX, but I'm in PA.

Question for Silver : are you in DC metro area by any chance ?

Symptoms :

"Phone Requires Service Message pops up"
"GPS Unit showing wrong location on NAV"
"Compass pointing in the wrong direction"

Am beginning to think could have saved 3K by not getting the friggin UConnect with Nav. Not that the Nav was very useful or responsive even when working ..

@Sampoerna - Contact dealer and log ticket with Chrysler asap. Their probable response is the head unit is on back order.

Other things have started noticing is that the seat belt unsecured messages don't show up for passenger side, which also probably means the Air bag is deactivated even if a passenger is sitting there which is a safety issue.

Btw my 2014 Uconnect GC head unit is still a paper weight and has been a month almost. Dealer still waiting for part to be shipped from chrysler

My 2014 limited GC has 1600 miles. Voice commands stopped working as did phonebook sync and can't store phone numbers. Also nav does not store recent addresses and my home address doesn't save. Took it back to dealer today. Will see what happens.

What is the number to call. Some nav settings like to displaymdirections in the cluster are constantly reseting to off same with speed limit warnings, every few days they go back to default off position. Similar story w adv tech related features.

I wish NAV would work like garmin in a sens if not navigating to a destination show 2d map with north up. If navigating show 3d view with heading up. You can set one or the other but not switch automatically between both.

Re: 8.4AN uconnect Nav problem 2014 Grand Cherokee

I have a 2014 Limited. Wow I thought it was only my problem.

Reading the posts it was like reading my log of issues. The dealer is very uncooperative....if they can't see the problem it is NOT a problem.
Sorry it doesn't happen when I am in front of the dealer.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what we should do?

I would go to another dealer if you are not happy. This is an old thread, probably with the original Uconnect version and some of the issues had been worked out with other releases. I assume since you have been to the dealer they have at least updated your unit to version 13.19. Mine had been updated to 13.19 and I continued to have problems, one of which was the nav floating off track as described in earlier posts. Anyway, my dealer replaced the Unconnect unit with a new one last week. It came with version 13.31.6 and also has a different naviserver number. So far everything works great for me now. Just stay on them to fix it.

Yes, one week ago had new version .19 software install by the dealer. Seems to work but I heard there is a new .35 version coming
