Re: A/C Filter??

Sometime ago I was looking for the A/C filter. I removed the glove box to check that area out. It appears that is where it is located, but I didn't try to remove anything because I was not 100% sure. Need to change it in a few months.

Re: A/C Filter??

The cabin air filter is indeed behind the glove box, you need to remove the glove box to get at it. Wasn't easy, but it can be done.

Re: A/C Filter??

Thanks ^^

So this is one of those vehicles where its going to be a PITA to do the simple cabin air filter. Removing the entire glove box.

Btw... does anyone know if this is how you access the glovebox light? Want to replace that with a LED. Wondering if Glove Box removal is required. If so, i'll wait till i need to change the filter to also change the light.

Re: A/C Filter??

Glovebox removal itself is not really difficult. There are two retainter posts at the top of either side of the door that need to be pressed towards the middle towards each other to get the upper bin released, and similar retention pivot-posts at the bottom of the bin that come out one at a time with pressure. Can't speak to the cabin filter yet, sorry.

Re: A/C Filter??

Hey --- Did anyone answer the question if it comes with a cabin air filter FROM THE FACTORY??

I know my WK 2005 didn't have an air filter installed so had to order and install one. The best thing is they help cut down on the cigarette smoke that enters the vehicle when stopped at a stop light and other drivers have their cigarettes hanging out the window to keep the smoke out the their cars... I thought I had read that the WK2 has an air cabin filter installed...but Jeep could have changed the specs....

Anyway....I haven't checked if an air filter comes installed from the factory or not...so anyone that knows the answer please let me know. Much thanks...

The WK2 is behind the glove box.

Re: A/C Filter??

I took it out and put back. Glove box was somewhat difficult to put back - it just wouldn't snap into place.

Re: A/C Filter??

But does the WK2 come with a FACTORY INSTALLED cabin air filter or do you need to buy one and install it like with my 2005 WK???

I think it does. That is mine came with installed filter (accessible via glove compartment) that I think is cabin air filter.

Re: A/C Filter??

If yours came with one then mine should have too..... My 2005 WK had a space for one but the factory did not install, was after market only.

Re: A/C Filter??

The parts list shows its applicable to all models, the window sticker for the base Laredo includes the following:

"Air Cond w/ Dual Zone Temp Control & Air Filtering"

So I'm guessing its a standard feature in all models, but have not taken one appart to look.
