From the comment above by Sgman16, he's stating that he does not have auto climate control but his AC turns on with Remote Start. Sgman16, do you have the base Laredo or the Laredo X? Perhaps the X package is the difference. I have the Laredo base, no X package, but I do have the Convenience package. I had a couple of TSB's done a few months ago, maybe that did something?

My ac light is on sometimes with remote start and sometimes it isn't on. It does, however, blow cold air with the light on or off.

Interesting story. Was at a Resturant the other day, lunch meeting was wrapping up, remote start jeep. Two cops pulled up and parked next to jeep. both got out and looked around running jeep. They walked inside. One walked past me and I told him I used remote start to cool off vehicle. He sat down and told me that it was actually illegal to leave an unoccupied vehicle running (he was really cool about it). I'm in NC.

He didn't write me a ticket but could have. Just a note to maybe check your local laws.

Re: AC and Remote Start

In many states "unattended vehicle" (while running) is a violation.. You could argue that the doors must be locked to use remote start.

When using remote start, if someone breaks a window, will the security system shut the engine down?

What would it matter if someone did?

Yes, it would if they can't drive away with it.

The key fob must be in the car in order to put the car in drive after remote starting. You must push the start button to activate the normal drive mode which allows you to put the Jeep in drive. So without the keyfob in the car you can not shift in to drive. So if you remote start the Jeep you will not be able to shift unless the keyfob is present.

Correct, pretty much all remote start systems require the fob to be present or the Key to be put in the ignition for the vehicle to operate. Once you put your foot on the brake to shift out of park it shuts the engine off.

Re: AC and Remote Start

Does anyone know if the remote start can be retro-fitted. I never thought of it for summer use, could be very handy on a hot day to start the car and run the A/C. I always thought of it only for winter use.

Id love it for summer too Rman. Here in Australia they are not allowed to bring the cars in with it due to some law. However i have noticed it as available as a retrofit in the Mopar catalogue.

If possible i would order this and get it fitted for sure.

Re: AC and Remote Start

The remote start is a huge bonus in South Florida...start it from far away and it is already blowing cold air when you get in. I really like it.
