AC Blowing Hot Air

FYI on problem

Bought a 2012 Laredo X last Friday and why wife was complaining that the AC was blowing hot air on the passenger side. Me being a car guy said you are doing something wrong lol because that's not really possible but sure enough it was

Took it in under warranty and they found that the actuator that controls the door was broke. So it was indeed blowing hot air. $6 part but almost 4 hours labor to fix. Just thought Id pass it along. I've read a lot about freezing up due to low pressure switch and figured that was it but wasn't

Re: AC Blowing Hot Air

My 2012 Overland was doing the same thing. One of the few things my max warranty actually covered.....

Most definitely it's possible. Passenger side blend door actuator motor or gear is broken. Dirt common with '11 and '12 models and the passenger side usually goes first. Remove the glovebox and this assembly is inside to the left. Not hard to replace. The actuator gear is a $2 dealer part and always breaks causing this problem. Motor may be good if it didn't strip internal gears when the actuator gear broke... but it's $35 on Ebay if so. Passenger side is MUCH easier to replace than driver side... but both sides can be done good as new without tearing out the dash. Shouldn't take a good tech more than an hour to fix. Probably looking at $150-$200 including parts to fix by a good cheap independent tech.
