AC blows on/off and previous heat issue...

2011 WK2 Overland V6

I don't know if the issues are related but the common theme is the climate control isn't playing nice.

I had it in a couple months ago for a heating issue. I was driving home one even and no heat, none! The pass side was blowing heat but not the drivers side. Not high, not low it was significantly warmer air coming out of the pass side. Dealer checked it and gave me temp readings and one vent (drivers side, right vent) was cooler than the rest. They said it was within spec.

Now the AC blower is kicking on and off. Ive tried every conceivable combo from AUTO to each manual setting, record on and off, AC on and off (when off it would be on AUTO), when in manual mode different fan speeds. It blows for a few seconds then cuts off for a few seconds. This is also sporadic but more prevalent in warmer weather (its only 76 today, its not even that hot).

Its going in on Friday but I am curious if anyone else has had similar issues so I have some knowledge.

not sure if it's similar issue, but my AC flat out stopped working in my 11 overland and plan to take it to dealer very soon to have it checked out. Never had any issues and bam it just stopped working. will post back once i know something.

2011 Grand Cherokee Laredo ---

I'm experiencing the same issue - the blower motor is kicking on and off. Blower will be working fine, then will stop turning (blower control on HVAC panel still shows ON) and then turn back on a moment or so later.

Anyone had this happen or found a fix? Someone I know mentioned it could be related to a faulty ground?

Thanks!
Mike

My 2014 GC Limited worked fine until the first time it went to the dealer. They did one of their "software updates" and my HVAC did not work AT ALL when I picked it up, and the stereo would switch between AM FM and Sirius on its own. Long story short, it had a mind of its own even after they kept it and worked on it, blowing heat on hot days and barely blowing AC on the lowest setting on hot days. Finally, after being blown off by a service writer who thought I was making it all up, and getting the dealer owner involved, the service manager drove it a couple of days, confirmed the poor operation, and discovered the wrong software had been loaded. Loading the right software fixed it. The mechanic who did it was "incompetent" and had been fired for screwing up everything he touched. And I'll never go back to this dealer, this was my FIFTH new C/J/R from them in 10 years and they lost me forever.

Re: AC blows on/off and previous heat issue...

If the hvac fan is cycling on and off regardless of fan speed setting, maybe in 30-45 second intervals, you more than likely have a door actuator that has kicked the bucket. You mentioned having undesirable output temps on the driver side......has than problem been corrected? If not, I'd bet on a failed driver side blend door actuator.

I'd want to see the listed "spec" they are referring to.

Insist they fix and and make it work properly. It's obviously not right.

Look the guy in the eye and tell them he has two options:

- Service it to your satisfaction

or

- you'll take it somewhere else and file a grievance with FCA and a negative report with the BBB in regards to the poor service you are receiving.

Then stand there until he decides.

I'm all for being polite and cooperative, but when it slides into my being handed bull crap because they don't want to bother, then I dig in and let them know I'm serious.
