AC Condenser

My AC was blowing hot air and had a hissing sound coming from the dash. Took it to the dealer and they said it had no refrigerant. So they put refrigerant in and dye to test for a leak and they said it was leaking at the condenser due to probable rock damage so they wont cover it under warranty. Quoted $200 to refill the refrigerant and a tad over $1000 to replace the condenser. Does this sound right? Should I get a second opinion about the whole thing?

Key here is "probable", make them prove it (still under the 3/36 ?). Find the leak (should have oil around it). A rock should have bent several fins around the leak besides making a hole in the fascia (must get through the fascia and fins to the tube) & be obvious. Might want to get a 2nd opinion from a local shop or another dealer. Did they put it in writing ?

BTW the condenser is in front of the radiator, evaporator is the dash, could see a lot of labor for the evaporator but no way a rock could get there.

ps look here.

Still within 3/36. They recommended taking it to insurance. So I took their advice to see if they were "bulling" around and my insurance did notice a leak. Stuck the camera in the access panel and snapped a picture to confirm. They said they would repair it under my policy. Going to get a final opinion at another dealer before I make my mind up.
