Re: Ac not cooling

My A/C died after a couple hours of use yesterday. Sounds like it's pointless to bring it up with the service dept.

Re: Ac not cooling

Has anyone run the AC for extended periods with the recirc on and had the same problems? Just wondering if you ran the recirc if that would keep it from "freezing" (lack of a better word).

Unhappy Re: Ac not cooling

I have a 2011 GC overland. Have issues with the AC for about 2 months now. It appears to happen when the sun is out, I get air but it's not cool. It was low on freon, then they couldn't figure it after taking it in 4 times. They replaced a switch and it got worse and is now making a groaning noise. They've now replaced the radiator fan module(a $1000 part).

This all started failing after the car had 36,000 miles. Hum.

But now it's difficult to test if it's working or not since the weather has cooled off.

Very frustrating!!!

Re: Ac not cooling

I just went through this same crap at my local dealer. My 2011 GC Overland stops cooling when on the road. AC does not work again until it has been shut down for 30 minutes or so. Dealer says everything is fine and cannot find any problems. Seems like sort of a weak response to someone who paid close to $50,000 for this vehicle which only has 14,000 miles on it! I'd really be interested in hearing of any solutions any of you may have found for this problem.

Re: Ac not cooling

There is or should be a TSB available to resolve this problem. It involves a firmware flash.

Angry Re: Ac not cooling

Thanks! I'll take that service bulletin to my dealer (who obviously doesn't own a computer or read updates mailed to him).

Re: Ac not cooling

I had the exact problem....two times I took my 2011 GC OS in with no codes and no luck because I was taking it in AFTER the fact.

However, when I drove it right into the "check-in" garage with the problem still happening, we found the issue VERY QUICKLY. Upon popping the hood, a nice sheet of ice was found on the compressor. As soon as the tech came in and saw it, he knew immediately it was the low-pressure sensor and/or switch.

Under the hood, the "block of ice" created by the problem would melt in about 30 minutes and it was like nothing was wrong.

Hope that helps!

Re: Ac not cooling

Had the same problem on my 2012 Limited. Dealer replaced a/c sensor probe.

Re: Ac not cooling

I have the same issues and I live in Phoenix...105 degrees but 10% humidity. I took it in today, they said performed a software update and it "is up to spec at this time". It is NOT. I cannot stand to drive in this car. The guy from the dealership who drove me home and picked me up for the service call was driving a 4 banger minivan and it was ice cold. I've tried recirc, moving temp hotter, you name it...nothing.
I'm pissed my 11 GC OS hemi cannot keep me comfortable.

Re: Ac not cooling

I had the same issue. Drove to Vegas from LA in July and the AC went out after two hrs of driving. No A/C in the Mojave desert sweating my balls off in 110 heat. I was 30 minutes away to the next service station and lost about 10 lbs on the weigh.....Long story short the A/C worked only if I turn off the car and then turn it back on again. we did this on the way there and coming back home...

Took it to the dealer the next day and they remapped or updated the software..thats what they told me and I had no issue since then.

Re: Ac not cooling

I took it back in and they found that it was substantially low on freon. They checked for a leak and found none.
They recharged it and now it is at least acceptable.
