Re: Ac not cooling

I just scanned these posts after taking my GC into the dealer (almost 36K miles!). We have had the A/C problem and the dealer could not 'recreate'. Ours is when on an hour or longer drive and on a hot day. Almost always on a Sunday! Even high fan (no A/C) doesn't work. Windows open is not fun in the heat on a highway.

I've printed the TSB 24-003-12 and have the other items in previous posts. Next trip in I'll have them check all of those.

Has the TSB above worked for anyone?

Thanks for any input!

Re: Ac not cooling

We have had the exact same problem every summer for 4 years! No solutions from dealer. Very disappointed. We purchased lifetime warranty on this car in 2011. It paid for itself around 50000 due to a variety of problems. Rarely are they fixed with one visit to dealership. I picked our vehicle up from dealership last week after oil change and tire rotation. Had a check engine light the following morning. And my car won't accelerate uphill. I live in the VA mountains. Last oil change I got a check engine light before I even got home! They said I needed a cam shaft sensor and it was unrelated to their work that day. Overall so disappointed in the vehicle and dealership. Will probably have to take it somewhere else and pay out if pocket for air conditioning problem. Currently waiting for a tow truck and rental car. Too bad. It's a beautiful car and a nice ride

Re: Ac not cooling

Thanks for the reply! After doing all of the unrelated recalls, my AC is miraculously working! There are a few other issues which I'll be taking the GC in to resolve, but nothing that's not on the drivetrain warranty.

Still really like this vehicle!

Re: Ac not cooling

Hi folks, this just happened to me. Driving to my wife's home town for her cousin's wedding. The total drive time was approximately 4 hours. A little over 2 hours into the drive the AC Stopped working. You could hear the blower, but no air was coming out. I turned the car off and on to see if it was a computer glitch but that didn't work.

Drove the rest of the way to the wedding in an extremely hot car as it was quite humid outside, but it was raining off and on so we couldn't roll down the windows for long. Once we arrived at the wedding, 6 hours later I went to start my car again and everything was working fine.

I'm still out here, so when I drive home I'll check to see if it stops working after 2 hours of extended driving again. I will take it to the garage when I get back to town and let you guys know what the result was.

Re: Ac not cooling

So I drove home and the issue did not return. AC is working fine. Very strange indeed. I'll have the mechanic look at it and see what he says.

Re: Ac not cooling

I've been experiencing this same issue. When I first started having it (after long drives on hot days) I brought it to a local garage and they said my freon was low and refilled it. After a few weeks it has started to happen again. I'm also going to print up this thread and the service bulletin for my next trip to the dealer. I guess I'll just live with it for a bit longer since I don't need any other work done any time soon and don't have any more long drives planned for now.

Re: Ac not cooling

New guy here, but just thought I'd let you know i had the same problem. I took it to the dealer and they said i was low on freon and also had a faulty EVAP temp probe. So they recharged the system and replaced the probe, and it seems to work pretty well now.

Re: Ac not cooling

Could it possibly be a blendoor issue? There was a TSB issued for '14 minivans for blendoor motor or controller malfunctions. I had one go out on a cargo van a few years ago, and it had the same symptoms. Also could be caused by a high-head limit switch trip. Or If the Q or K valve (not sure which they use) has some metal shavings in them, this could cause the unit to temporarily get plugged from excess pressure. Turn off the compressor (a/c off), hit a couple bumps, and the debris clears enough for flow. Don't know if that would/could throw a code...

I know this sounds like a lot of babble, but hopefully it might help. I've similar issues in a few vehicles over the years, and these were some of the culprits.

You can also verify your a/c refrigerant pressure with some kits from auto parts supply stores. If your pressure is low, it doesn't necessarily mean a leak is there, just some has leaked out over time, or was never really properly charged.
