AC quit working on 2014 Jeep GC

We are still not home and towing the Jeep behind our MH. Today while we were out and about the AC quit working. The AC will start working at engine start up and shortly thereafter the climate screen locks up. Both defroster screen buttons turn on and no screen button will respond and hot air blows out the dash vents. Neither will the dash buttons respond. We took it to a dealer in the small town we are in and they flashed it but that did not help. They think it is a computer or communication problem. They did not think they could repair it.

We are going to move to a larger city tomorrow (no one works Saturday) so we can find a dealer who has more experience with the 2014 computer setup and take it to them on Monday. 92 degrees temps makes it difficult to use the car without AC.

Anyone else run into this problem?

Re: AC quit working on 2014 Jeep GC

Maybe I just never followed as closely, but I don't remember hearing of dealers (other than Jeep) telling customers they don't think they can fix it.

We called the dealer in Jackson, MS and he assured me that they will fix it. He said they have the diagnostic tools as well as the hook up to Jeep so they can also read the modules. They are busy so he said it may take a few days. We are beginning to cancel travel plans to accommodate the situation.

Re: AC quit working on 2014 Jeep GC

Checked the car last night at about 2200 hours a new problem had started: the dash screen was illuminated. This morning, after I started the car to see if it would clear the problem and shut it down now the problem is worst. The tack and speedometer will not go to sleep. I have lost confidence and decided not to move to Jackson and attempt to use the local Jeep dealer.

I love driving this car but the dependability of the electronics are over the top disappointing. The car still runs, so far, but afraid to tow it. Hopefully the dealer will be able to find the problem.

Re: AC quit working on 2014 Jeep GC

Since the 2014 WK2 has been released to dealers back in March, I just wish I could go a week without reading a post here about a new problem on the 2014's. Doesn't speak to well about their R&D department.

But then again, Chryslers history has never been known for doing much R&D on any vehicle.

I think you will have to stay off the site for a week.

Re: AC quit working on 2014 Jeep GC

As I mentioned, we're traveling so took it to the local Jeep dealer here in Tupelo. It's a small dealership but I arrived at 0730 and they went to work and worked on it until 1330. They eliminated ground straps and the water problem under the dash. They spoke to Chrysler engineering and they recommended the wiring bus. The mechanic was working on troubleshooting the bus when it self fixed. He messed with everything in the vicinity where he was working but could not again cause the problem. They told me they did not consider the problem "fixed" but could not troubleshoot without the problem in place.

The trouble codes: BCM: U0011-00, U0147-00; HMS: U0011-00, U0147-00; ICS: U0011, U00184; MSM: U0016; AMP: U0011, U0184; RAD20: U0010-00, U0011-00, U0140-00; EDM: U0011, U0010, U0141; HVAC: U0184; PLGM: U0010.

They left these trouble codes in place to assist the next troubleshooter. They had a similar wiring harness problem on a Chrysler 300 that eventually required them to change out the wiring bus. Hopefully that won't be necessary in our case.

We are going to continue the trip and hope and pray it will hold together until we get it home so we can lay it in the hands of our home based dealer. We will then be able to return the car to that dealership until they fix it or explore other alternatives if necessary.

Re: AC quit working on 2014 Jeep GC

Did they verify that all of your fuses and breakers are pushed in all the way? bunches of mine were in the slot and making connection but not seated completely. I could feel them snap in when pressed.

Re: AC quit working on 2014 Jeep GC

Your talking about those fuses and circuit breakers located under the hood on the left front side in the black box? They did not mention anything but I can push on them tomorrow to see if any of them are not completely seated. Thanks for the info.

Re: AC quit working on 2014 Jeep GC

Yes those are the ones. They all seem to be making contact but half of them when pressed popped in the rest of the way.

Re: AC quit working on 2014 Jeep GC

My fuses and circuit breakers were all seated. I traveled for 6 hours today and everything is still working.
