ACC/FCW Unavailable

Wipe radar sensor.

That's the message that popped up on my dash. I pulled over to the side and wiped the radar. When I was wiping it, I noticed the area looked different. Like the grill around the radar was missing. Is this how it's supposed to look? Pics attached.

I start my drive again and turn on ACC after wiping the sensor and it works for a while. Then the message pops up again. My road trip was about 3 hours today and the message must have popped up 5 times. Did I not clean the area well? Or did some piece fall off the radar ball?ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1473459971.104508.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1473459988.240891.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1473459999.000192.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1473460014.568833.jpg

You seem to be missing frame around it. This is mine. 2016 High altitude. Do you remember hearing anything? Maybe it took a whack from some road debris. Hope this helps.

Re: ACC/FCW Unavailable

I just did a quick image search, and you are definitely missing a piece...it should have a round hole that only lets you see the "lens" and not the square box around it.
Perhaps something came up from the road and hit it, knocking off that piece and bumping the sensor out of alignment. Those don't actually need to be "clean" to function, they just can't be completely blocked by a big blob of snow, mud, trash, etc. I would get it to the dealer, but they may not cover the repair under warranty.

The plastic bezel is only like $15 bucks. It's not held on by much. Very easy to pop out.

Thanx. Where can I buy that part?

Do we know for sure it's covered under warranty. I really don't like going to dealers. Would prefer not to if I didn't have to.

Any mopar Internet dealer or ebay will have them. I would take it to dealer to see if they will cover it. It seems they will probably have to celebrate it anyway...

Re: ACC/FCW Unavailable

I would let the dealer cover it under warranty. Unless they find something damaged it, but if it fell off then it's worth letting FCA know of any vulnerability for the sake of other owners.

Also I'm surprised just for this piece it would throw a code unless there's a pin somewhere there as an actuator.

Finding plastic part is one thing. Getting your ACC and making sure the sensor is functioning correctly is a matter of having the dealer perform the service on it. Just putting the plastic bezel does not obviously solve the error.

I know missing part won't fix the problem. Like I told in pervious post Radar need to get align by dealer to fix the issue.

Re: ACC/FCW Unavailable

Actually, the part might fix the problem. I've heard of several cases where the missing bezel makes the radar think the sensor is dirty.. my guess is that the bezel interacts with the beam, possibly keeping sidelobes from sensing the discontinuity at the front of the bezel.

68143107AB, $11.24 at east coast moparts.

If that doesn't fix it, then have the dealer look at it. My bet is that if you show up with the bezel missing, they will claim damage and not warranty any work on the sensor (that's what happened in one of the cases mentioned above).
