ACC Max. Distance

Hi,

i really like the ACC feature on my Jeep. It is the closest to an auto-pilot we will ever have...
However, i find the max distance setting being not far enough. Does not seem to keep the enough distance to me and can't imagine how close the preset 1-2 are (never tried).
Does anyone feel the same? Do you think this is something that may be configurable in the future?

-J

I'm under the opposite opinion that the first setting is too far while on the interstate. It allows for cars to get between you and the car in front which then creates a violent braking motion.

Re: ACC Max. Distance

I'm with kaflyboy. But at least you can override the braking by applying a little gas. I wish there was a way to override it with coasting though.

The distance at which it applies brakes seems to be the same regardless of the ACC distance setting. That's why I sometimes drive in number 2 mode, where usually the car that cuts in is far enough ahead not to invoke the braking.

Usually though I disable ACC in any high traffic situation. It's frustrating as hell to have it jerkily braking then 2 seconds later WOT to catch back up, only because it was braking in the first place!

Re: ACC Max. Distance

I agree with the others, the closest setting is still too far away.

Re: ACC Max. Distance

i can't imagine driving on the third (farthest away) distance setting, unless in a remote area with hardly any traffic, middle of the night, etc on a long trip. Either 1st or 2nd distance setting for me. I wish there was a closer setting also.
