Re: Adaptive Cruise = Useless Radar Detector?

to bad this thread got messed up with posts about the validity of radar detectors.

I was looking for the same answer as the original poster, the final answer seems to be that ACC does not affect the recent generation of radar detectors.

Re: Adaptive Cruise = Useless Radar Detector?

Thanks guys... i'll have my summit (some day) and i'll test... i have an escort 7500 which is a pretty good radar but i dont think i can download firmware upgrades. maybe a firmware upgrade would help in case the radar does go off with ACC

Re: Adaptive Cruise = Useless Radar Detector?

I ordered the ACC as well, I'm looking forward to going on a trip once I get the Jeep and trying it out.

Do you have it? Because I do and it's awesome. Such a great piece of tech.

I wouldn't go as far to say useless. I swear by my detector. I will not drive over the speed limit without it. I have been saved by it via radar and laser too many times to count.

Re: Adaptive Cruise = Useless Radar Detector?

I can guarantee the frequency used will not fall in either the X, K or Ka bands specified for police Doppler radar.

The FCC has allocated 76 - 77 GHz as the operational range for unlicensed vehicle radar systems, aka ACC.

My point with the moving radar is that by the time your detector goes off, your caught.
The other thing about laser is it is not constantly sending out a signal to detect. When if goes off, it means the police are aiming at your car at that moment then its too late.
Trust me on this stuff.
That is 100% false. As long as the radar is on, its still sending out a signal.

Unless it is being used on cars in front of you and then you are warned in advance. You always have to keep your eyes open.

Re: Adaptive Cruise = Useless Radar Detector?

And more info on the sticky pad, the one I posted the link about is new and it works great, real sticky on the back side and it is now real heavy so that if you dont have your detector on it and have the windows down as you drive it will not blow off the dash, as the older models would.

Re: Adaptive Cruise = Useless Radar Detector?

Bad news... We have the Advanced Warning/Adaptive Cruise Ctl package on our truck.

For some reason my V1 is alerting K band to the rear every few seconds. Doesn't happen in my other vehicles. I even tried a second V1 with the same result.

Re: Adaptive Cruise = Useless Radar Detector?

I understand your question now and did not mean to comment on your driving style...I would be very shocked if they utilized the same frequencies...BUT it looks like they may??

With my Passport I can eliminate X and K bands (which I do as I hate flase alarms, and that tech is old with respects to law enforcement, although K is still used for un-man'd speed traps and such)...so did you for sure figure out its your ride? That is a bummer if the ACC sets of a detector...haha but you can mess with other drivers lmao

Re: Adaptive Cruise = Useless Radar Detector?

If you get one of the newer detectors, they eliminate false signals for you. But sometimes I notice when I'm driving that my K band is going off like crazy for miles where it usually doesn't so I guess they were using their ACC.
