Air dam removal clarification needed

After doing a search and reading the various threads on the subject, I decided to install tow hooks on my WK2, but I still have a couple of questions about removing the air dam.

I can only find five quarter turn releases, including one in each wheelwell in the felt area. I do not have the adaptive cruise control, would this make a difference, or am I still missing two?

At what angle and with how much force do you pull to take the air dam off after the quarter turn releases are out? Straight forward horizontally? or straight down vertically? or at a 45 degree (or some other) angle between the two?
How hard to pull to separate it from the upper grill area?

Will appreciate any help and hints from those who have done this.

There's 7 retaining pins overall; 3 in the center, 2 in the wheel liner, and 2 in the corners by the tire. Then you just pull the air dam straight out from the bumper cover. You need to use quite a bit of force though, the pieces will flex a lot but nothing will break

There are seven; you need to really look for the last two. Once these are all off, you pull straight horizontally and it will come off. The first time is the hardest and it does loosen up somewhat after that. Then they snap back in.

I started on one side and worked my way around to get off, but started in the middle and worked around both sides to put it back on.

found the other two, they were playing hide-and-seek.

I just needed a little encouragement (and others' experience) before starting to pull around on the front of my WK2 without knowing what I was doing.

I finally took my air dam off this morning. Easier than I thought. Just had to pull harder then I was before.

I don't know yet. I am out in Moab for a week and will leave it off till I get ready to leave. I have a roll of duct tape and bungie cords as a backup plan.

I put the front air dam back on this morning as we leave Moab in the morning for the trip home.

It was not too hard but it does help to have a helper as I did. You need to keep it level. As said before, do it outside where there is lots of light.

This is an old post but I thought I'd add a tip. I removed my air dam to go off road and it was not the easiest thing getting the top unclipped from the bumper. Before I put the air dam back on, I put a LITTLE bit of petroleum gel (Vaseline will work too) on each of the 12 tabs on the top and they popped back in without a problem ... should also help next time it has to be removed.
