Air Doesn't Turn on When Set to AUTO

This is something that just started (or I am just now noticing it). When I turn on the Jeep and the air was last set to Auto, no air will blow out unless I manually adjust the fan setting and put it back in Auto. From what I can remember, the air used to always come on automatically upon start-up when set in Auto. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I have not tried w/ remote start, but this issue is occurring with normal start-up.

In the auto mode when it is cold, the system won't start blowing air until the engine warms up some to avoid freezing you out.

That could be the issue. Do you happen to have any idea what Jeep's definition of "cold" is?

No. All I know is that here in Colorado it operates that way for about 9 months out of the year (just a guess, below about 50F).

Re: Air Doesn't Turn on When Set to AUTO

When in auto and its hot in the car, the fan come on almost immediately to cool things down, when its cold, the fan will wait till there is a bit of engine heat. Otherwise the fan is blowing at such a low level you don't notice it.

This.

I have another car with auto temp (Volvo) and in cold weather it also waits until the engine temp is up before blasting air into the cabin.
