airbag light?

well it lasted... what ... 2 months? a whole 2 months without a problem.. wow!

Now.. twice.. the airbag light has come on for about 1 minute then turns off.
once when someone was sitting in the passenger seat.. once when it was just me.

Any one know why?

Re: airbag light?

Same thing happened to me recently. The service airbag message along with the light was random, then after a few days constant along with the seat belt light. Took it to the dealer and had a few recalls addressed (software / firmware). Turned out to be a faulty restraint control module - replaced under warranty.

Re: airbag light?

I'll have to double check the paperwork they gave me. I don't remember if the control module they replaced was for the airbag system or the seat belts, but it was replaced in conjunction with a software / firmware update recall for the instrument cluster so both issues were addressed at the same time. The parts for the visor and brake booster recall are on order so I'll be going back to have those taken care of.

I'll post an update once I review the paperwork.

Thanks.

Re: airbag light?

Static - just remembered it was the ORC module they replaced (as well as double checking the ground). I've looked through the forum and there are multiple members describing EVIC problems and defective ORC modules. Mine started with just the airbag message, but a few days later progressed to the seat belt message. Both would go away randomly but by the 4th or 5th day, they were illuminated constantly and I had to suffer through roughly 10 seat belt chime cycles before it would stop (but both lights still illuminated).

Have your dealer check the ORC module - hopefully that's the issue. Mine did stay in the shop for 2 days waiting on the part though.

Hope this helps.

Re: airbag light?

I've had my 14 WK2 Limited into the shop now 3 times for this problem. My light came on as soon as I drove off the dealer lot and has stayed on since. Today was their 3rd attempt to fix it and they were unsuccessful. Told them I want a replacement vehicle under the lemon law.

Did they replace the ORC module and apply the firmware updates for the instrument cluster?

Re: airbag light?

My airbag light came on while I drove my new early build 2014 V6 Limited off the dealership's lot.

They ended up replacing a module...took a couple days to get the part.

Who knows? This dealership's service dept seems to be completely inept. I've never had such a bad experience in my entire life for any vehicle I've ever owned.

Did they not tell you what work was completed? One dealer I contacted made it clear that since I didn't purchase the vehicle from them, they had no interest in doing the warranty work. I sent a heated email to Chrysler support and - much to my surprise - received a response from a human being. They contacted the dealer I ended up going to to have the work done to make sure I was satisfied. Are there any other dealers you can try close to you?

I was getting aggravated by the issues as well, but after having them addressed I'm a happy camper again.

I purchased the vehicle at the dealer doing the service. Today they said they replaced the clockspring. Last time it was a squibb. The first time they just unhooked the battery a bunch of times. I told them tonight they can keep it and to call me when a replacement vehicle or refund check is ready for me to pick up. I also called Chrysler and opened a case. After reading about all the problems on here, I kind of hope they just refund my money so I can go buy something that isn't such a piece of junk. Never had a single problem with 4 different Lexus vehicles over 2 decades - what the hell was I thinking?

Re: airbag light?

only 3 times? consider yourself lucky lol

you have to have it in for the same problem like 4 times or a total of like 30 days in service for the lemon law. I have had mine in service, i dont even know how many times. I have had it over a year and this was the longest period without an issue.

If this gets worse... I HATE THIS TRUCK.
