Seat belt pretensioner, passenger seat weight sensors are all tied to the airbag system and a problem with any of those things could cause a airbag warning light. Unfortunately it is a complex system and most likely can only be identified at a dealer.
hey K9, I have the same issue. just picked up my Jeep yesterday and the light kept going on and off, then today it has been on all day long. do you know where exactly the loose wire was? i've jiggled everything below both seats, but haven't seen any results.
Quick update for anyone interested: my GC has a faulty driver's seat belt tensioner and sensor. From the factory Part ordered and will be replaced next Wednesday under warranty.
I had to take my Jeep to the dealership for other issues but I've had the "service airbag" light on my dash so had them check it out since it was there.... they said my entire airbag needs to be replaced.... for $899.47
This car has never been in an accident and the airbags have never deployed.... why would the airbag need to be replaced?
Check for code B212D - ignition run only input. Had this on my 2008 GC. This is the unavailable relay issue - the relay controls air bags and HVAC fan. Air bag light comes on intermittently and fan stops. My work around was to add a fuse tap to the fuse panel in the drivers kick and run a 16 ga jumper wire to the HVAC relay in the engine compartment power distribution centre (PDC). Strip back about 3/4 inch on the wire end at the PDC and fold about 3/8 inch into the HVAC relay socket slot that energizes the relay, insert relay and voila! Fan works. I notched out the relay socket so the wire would sit flat. Only use a switched circuit for the jumper wire so that the fan relay is only energized when ignition is on. Use a circuit tester to identify the run only slot - when ignition on and the air bag light on, this will be the 'dead" slot. One slot is always energized from a 40A fuse, two slots are ground, last (4th) is the ignition energized slot that activates the relay. The middle slot in the relay socket is not used.
