Re: Alarm goes off randomly

Mine went off at about 4:15 in the morning the other day. I had to press unlock to get it to stop. No idea why it happened.

Re: Alarm goes off randomly

On my Jeep, it's the rear hatch that goes up randomly.

Re: Alarm goes off randomly

I don't know if the european version is different apart that the alarm has a siren instead of the horn. But mine does this also sometimes, my parkingspace has a slight incline, barely noticable, if a leave the car in park and with no handbrake on sometimes when a big heavy car drives by the shaking of the ground will shudder my car lightly and move the car slightly back and forth, this i've noticed triggers the motionsensor of the alarm, if I leave it in park with handbrake engaged it doesn't !
Once it the motionsensor is activated once, its gets hypersensitive for a few day's causing several false alarms, for my car the only way to break this circle is to disconnect the battery for at least 15 min to reset the alarm and all is well (this is according the dealer the only way to reset/reboot the alarm) Mine is a WH/CRD, hope this helps you

Re: Alarm goes off randomly

Alarm went off twice more today!

Strange how this just started happening "out of the blue" (3,000 miles).

Oh well, just made an appointment to go in to the dealer for the TSB/Update tomorrow morning. Fortunately, at least they were aware of it.

Hope this cures it once and for all.

Well, went to the dealer and had the TSB/Flash/Update done this morning. I read through the TSB (link above) thoroughly before going. It gives very clear step by step directions to the tech and clearly tells him what "codes" to look for to confirm that the TSB will apply and be the correct fix for the problem.

When I was called that my car was done (only took 15 - 20 minutes), I asked the service writer what codes were found. He kind of looked at me with a blank expression and looked on the repair order the tech handed in. He said that no codes were found, but that with this particular issue, it doesn't always leave a code. He went on to say the tech pluged into my car, and that little green thunderbolts show each parameter that's being updated.

Oh well, let's hope it does the trick. Truck's been sitting all day with the alarm "armed", and so far, so good......no false alarms.

Re: Alarm goes off randomly

The tech actually is supposed to look and see what the last VTA trigger was. It should have been the right rear door. If it was, then the flash should fix the alarm. The codes are CAN BUS codes,I'm not sure but I think they might have something to do with a possible no-start condition, which the flash is also supposed to address. It sounds like the service writer gave you a little song and dance, probably because he didn't know,or the tech might have just flashed the module without bothering to check. I would bet that your Jeep is fixed.

Thanks for the info. Sure hope it is fixed. She's sleeping "armed" in the garage as we speak and all's well. (Fingers Crossed).

Four days later and all's well! Hoping you were correct. Quick question regarding the "flash" they did. Do you happen to know when they do something like this, if they update "EVERYTHING' needed? From what the service writer told me, they plug the car in and where ever there are "green thunderbolts", updates are done. Just wondering if this applies to all TSB's or just the one(s) the vehicle was brought in with symptoms for?

Re: Alarm goes off randomly

Sorry for the delay, I haven't been around but as far as flashing everything, I couldn't say. Where I work, we were given conflicting info. First we were told to just do all the updates, but then we got in trouble with Chrysler for doing too many updates. Now we are being told to just do all updates. For the most part, it's just do the updates that the vehicle was brought in for.
