So I'm sitting on the couch watching the state of the union address (or the obama cheerleading event, whatever you prefer) and my alarm starts going off in the jeep. It's sitting in the driveway, both keys hanging on the key hanger, just randomly activated.
Anyone else heard of that happening?

I have accidentally pressed the RKE & 'pocket panic' causing the same a couple of times already...

Did you have to push the panic button in order to silence the Jeep?

If you did, then can you really account for both RKE's & that no one could have accidentally handled any of them?

If "No", then just maybe your JGC happened to hear that State of Union address & did not like what it heard!!

Both key fabs were in the house on a key holder we have hanging on our wall. No way they would have been accidentally pushed.
The service manager said something about possible garage door interference?

OK, I hear you on the fobs hanging safely on the hook...

As far as Garage Door Opener interference goes, It is 'remotely' (no pun intended) possible... However, it is highly unlikely to be the specific source of this problem... The FCC has pretty much gotten GDO frequencies under control now in the last 10 years with the 390 MHz & the latest 315 MHz series.

I know this because I service & install GDO's for the last 35+ years.

Is it possible some other device(s) caused this? Absolutely... there are an incredible amount of devices that we have in our lives now that we use on a daily basis that send-out & transmit signals.

Like home LAN internet boxes & cordless phones, our iphone & ipod radio transmitters, & Bluetooth devices, Airport tower transmissions & ham radio hobbyists just to name a few. The lower frequency devices like baby monitors & walkie talkies are not going to be an issue with this.

Yeah, any one or combination of these could have caused this to happen the other night. If that was the very first time that it occurred, I would just keep an eye on it & document it going forward. If it happens a 2nd or more times, then maybe someone & something in your neighborhood has changed to cause this & then you should ask you dealer if they can possibly 'recode' your Jeep's RKE system.

Good Luck with this...

P.S.- Are you sure that no one might have tried to break-in to your Jeep & shake it while in the driveway OR do you live near an airport?

Factory Jeep alarms do not have IMPACT SENSORS so this should have no bearing on setting an alarm off.

My house isn't near an airport so that couldn't be the culprit.
I'm just chalking it to a freak situation. I'll monitor and circle back if it happens again. She's in the shop right now with another 6 items on the list for repair.
