Same exact thing happened to me. Both FOB's on the kitchen counter and the alarm went off. I don't know how I got it to stop. I tried pressing the unlock button, then the lock followed by unlock. Nothing... I then pressed the panic button and the horn interval got faster.... I kept pressing buttons until it stopped. I'm afraid to lock the darn thing now... Please let us know what the dealer finds... Thanks.

Re: Alarming Alarm Issue

I'm having same issue. Very random, but probably a weekly occurrence. I leave it unlocked in my garage, but has triggered at office, airport, son's ball game, etc.

Took it to dealer and left it for (4) days. They found no error codes and software was all up to date. They said to diagnose, it actually has to randomly occur while connected to their diagnostic system... Like that's going to happen!

If I'm in safe area, I'm now leaving drivers door unlocked... Great alarm system for sure!

Hopefully someone will figure it out - eager for solution.

Re: Alarming Alarm Issue

These symptoms all indicate one of the contacts the system uses to sense intrusion is marginal or barely engaged. The most likely culprit is the rear glass but without the wiring diagram to trace the contacts it's pretty tough to diagnose. It could be something as simple as a loose connector......

Maybe locking the vehicle and putting the FOBs out of radio range then moving the hood, doors, hatch and hatch window to see if any of them trigger the alarm would help narrow the search.

I tested mine by setting it off twice, once for each FOB and confirming the FOB unlock button silenced the alarm.

Re: Alarming Alarm Issue

From other blog header concerning alarm and random locking.

Well my problem is fixed.

Here is what it was...

My complaint:

check and advise for door locks randomly locking and unlocking. Never occurs when the client is driving. On occasion alarm system will go off. Occurred for client and advisor. Advisor was performing damage check and doors locked without key pressed or door handle touched

Cause:

Failure

Correction:

Replaced liftgate chrome moulding with new switch

Handle 23-014-010

Yay!

Re: Alarming Alarm Issue

So it sounds like the older issue of the rear lock/unlock button failures and the random alarm triggering may be related! Interesting.....

I wanted to offer this suggestion but it doesn't work for the tailgate.
If you turn off the "Unlock all doors" option on the EVIC and then lock everything using the power door lock button on the inside door panel arm rest first, and then open the driver's door using the open handle without unlocking it first, it will only unlock the driver's door and then you can lock it before you close it using the old fashioned up/down button.

Re: Alarming Alarm Issue

Hello! Just discovered this thread this morning and the alarm issue rings a bell with me. Purchased a V6 Overland about a month ago, and I have the "alarming alarm" problem too, at this point unresolved.

First, a few observations: (1) The problem is random and hard to consistently replicate—sometimes happens, sometimes doesn't. (2) Makes no difference whether I lock the vehicle with key fob or door handle button. (3) Most often alarm goes off within 30 seconds of locking, but sometimes will happen hours later (I've had two instances where I locked the vehicle in my driveway in the evening, threw the key fob on a dresser, and had the alarm go off at 5 AM and 9:30 AM the next morning). (4) On occasions when the alarm is delayed significantly (i.e., many minutes or hours) after locking, it is or has been raining, but probably just a coincidence. (5) When I enter the vehicle through driver or passenger doors, after pushing the unlock button on the key fob to shut off the alarm, I hear activation of the latch mechanism for the power liftgate (even when I am nowhere near the liftgate and have not used it during several lock/unlock sequences. (6) It makes no difference which key fob I use.

The problem first occurred within 20 minutes of delivery of the vehicle, when I returned to the dealer to pick up something I had forgotten—a mechanic looked at it then and "reprogrammed" something. The problem may appear to go away one day, then reappear multiple times the next day. I've been back to the dealer two or three times since (the last time the rear hatch handle was replaced, but when they parked the vehicle on their lot and brought the key in, the alarm set off again). The dealer has placed calls to Chrysler corporate, but the response has been slow and unhelpful. Corporate claims they have not heard of the problem and that it must be caused by "operator error"—in other words, I am not locking the vehicle correctly!

Needless to say, I'm frustrated. I can't leave anything of value in the vehicle, so it's largely worthless. I'm tracking events as best I can and may have to invoke lemon laws if dealer is unable to repair problem. I want to like the vehicle, but right now I'm very unhappy with the purchase. If anyone finds a solution to this issue, please post here. Thanks.

BTW, I've posted this on JeepForum.com also. I'm desperate for a solution.

Re: Alarming Alarm Issue

I'm still having issue also, am locking driver door manually (auto locking all, then reopen driver side and manually lock) if at office, etc as annoying/embarrassing if it goes off. At airport I lock it normally - typically same day or over night biz trips - 70-80% of the time when I return I get the triple honk indicating alarm was activated.

Re: Alarming Alarm Issue

I had the same issue, I went to dealer, They connected the scanning and detected the problem in back door, the services manager told me that they must replace one part en the back door that send open door signal to computer and thats the reason why the alarm activated.

By the way, my JGC is in the Dealer since last week, they are waiting for the part, as soon I have the work order in my hands and i can see the part number, I will reply this post
