Altitude Headlight Not Working

Hoping someone can chime in with some input as I've never dealt with HID's before. My 2015 GC Altitude has a burnt out low beam headlight. How do I determine if it's the bulb or the ballast? Also, is this a fix that needs to be done by the dealer, or can I do it? Thanks in advance of any help you can provide.

Altitude Headlight Not Working

You have halogen bulbs, not HID. If I were you I would take advantage and upgrade to something like a Sylvania Ultras or Silverstars.

As far as installation, there are a few videos on YouTube that will give you the basic idea on how to change them.

I changed my bulbs out to Ultras (lows and fogs) and couldn't be happier.

Are you sure they're halogen? The sticker on the inside of the door lists several things that are factory upgrades and one of them is HID lights. Also, the owners manual shows the replacement low beam bulb to be the D3, which from what I've seen is an HID. Thanks

If it's a regular Altitude, it is based on the Laredo which isn't available with HID 's. If it doesn't have the LED daytime running lights, like every Overland and Summit, it has halogens.

Do you have an Altitude or a High Altitude?

The Altitudes came with the halogen headlights. It's odd that yours came with HID - did the dealer add it after taking delivery?

If you do have halogen, the bulb size is H11 and I would recommend the Osram Nightbreakers as a replacement. You'll want to do both, and maybe even your fog lights too. Very good bulb.

Re: Altitude Headlight Not Working

Any tips on getting these out? I have a 2015 Altitude, had no luck getting the bulb to turn (passenger side). Tried thru wheel well access port, and in engine bay - even removed ECM for additional room. Just can't seem to get my hand positioned for leverage to twist. The bulbs turn counter clockwise correct (from back of housing)?
