Re: Am I being too picky?

I thought about doing some of the the "fixes" myself but am hesitant because if i break something im on my own. Where as if they do it and break it, they fix it. And as FD12ME said, for the sticker on these trucks we should not have any issues with them. And yes, I know its Jeep we are talking about but still if they want to compete with the big dogs, they have to do it all the way. I can also be a bit of a perfectionist, so that might be why I want to get all those things fixed. Only issue I ever had with the truck is that the wheels were not balanced and it vibrated, so I am very happy with the truck thus far.

I just took the wife with me on the pick up.
None of the above issues were noted, but she made them clean a fingerprint off the inside of the sunroof cover, remove teeny little pieces of the shipping plastic I couldn't even see, and replace the front license plate holder for a ding in the plastic.

Re: Am I being too picky?

No, you are not being too picky. If you took that same $45K to $50K+ that you spent on your Overland, and spent it on something else, would you have these issues? If you spent this same money on a Japanese or German vehicle, or even far less on a Korean vehicle, would you have these issues? No. My 2013 Grand Cherokee's leather is wearing to the point of vanishing, I have trim pieces that no respectable automaker would stick in a vehicle. Would I buy another? I really like the vehicle, but I don't think that I should be treating a vehicle of this type with kid gloves. For your outlay of cash, you deserve to be satisfied.

Re: Am I being too picky?

IMHO, I think you are not being too picky. Unfortunatley, I think you are expecting too much from this manufacturer's assembly/vehicle. I too found several issues with trim etc. not lined up properly, tailgate, window seals. A list of things that should be unacceptable on a 40k plus vehicle. I had a whole 1/4 panel interior trim piece replaced, and it fits right now, it's like it was warped. I fixed a trim piece on the console myself after dealer did not resolve. Tab A over B kinda thing, and it was that way new. The window seals will get looked at by the dealer. Coming from owning Toyotas and Mazdas over the last ten years, I don't think you are going to see that kinda quality in fit and finish from this vehicle, and its a shame. I am happier now than when I bought this vehicle a few weeks ago, I am learning to not worry about the small stuff and enjoy the vehicle. You have to decide for yourself. The bottom line for me is in 2 1/2 years if I have no confidence in the vehicle, it will be gone before the warranty is out. IF things aren't right, and it bothers me, I will keep bringing back to the dealer. Good luck with it.

I completely agree with you. And I knew that when I decided to but a jeep. Ever since I started driving all trucks I've owned have been from Jeep. The 2014 by far the best and most polished one. But as you said, I know those things are not right and they bother me so I will have them fix it. After all they want us to be 100% satisfied with our new trucks. Asides from the items in post one of the thread, I'm very happy with the truck. But those little things are the ones that will eventually drive you nuts, so I'm just getting them fixed before that happens, lol

Re: Am I being too picky?

When I was looking at a mid size SUV I found that was that $40 is about the normal range for "normal" folk price point. A buddy has a KIA Sorento and has no issues at all and it is starts at 21k. To get the perfect gaps and trim you need to step up to the 80k range. Way out of this guys price range. If you look at a 2013 Ram with any type of upgrade you are in the high 40's. Jeeps quality has really went to crap. One of my issues when I got it home was my hood was not aligned in the back. Turns out they forgot to put a bolt on the hood. So, that should tell you something. So, bottom is like, todays 40k cars are yesterdays 20k cars.
