Re: Am I being unreasonable?

You could open a claim against them for property damage, if they continue to not correct the problem to your satisfaction.

Re: Am I being unreasonable?

looks like their "dealer prep" meant that they took it through an automatic carwash and swirled and scratched your paint. i would speak with the dealership gm

In the first photo, that's the before of an issue I pointed out to them. I'm not even sure what it was. It almost looked like paint drip or something. Anyway, the second picture is the same spot after they worked on it. I'm not sure what they were thinking, but clearly, that's not an improvement, nor is it the right touch up paint color... of all of the issues they ignored, why didn't they ignore this one?

Third is of the door handle after they worked on it. It's slightly better than it was before but barely. In the fourth, ignore that big white circle to the right of the reflector, the issue is the scratches above and to the bottom right of it that remain after they worked on it.

Last is an attempted touch-up job of a deep scuff that was all white. As you can see, they didn't apply touch up paint to the entire area, nor did they bother to polish out the surrounding area (as indicated by the micro swirly scratches around it).

There are several other unresolved issues by the way.
I could fix those in 20 minutes in my home garage...come on by....LOL

Re: Am I being unreasonable?

I'd escalate the matter to the GM or owner. Should be a simple fix but frustrating that it is not fixed. Remind them of their promise and that you have not done the survey. Then ask to take it to a mutually agreeable detailer for repair at their cost. Or just get it done yourself and give the GM or owner to reimburse you. Or go crazy and start yelling at the top of your lungs! LOL

Drive it through the plate glass window in the front of the dealership.

Re: Am I being unreasonable?

You are not being unreasonable, but it seems like this is becoming or already is a big headache. I most likely would just get it done right somewhere else and forget about it.

(Here is my pipe dream for you to do, but will take some effort)
From what I read, your salesman not only told you, but your service guy. So you have a witness. Tonight, I would just make a small letter stating what you were told and see if you can get your salesman and service guy to sign it (I know may not happen, but some people still believe in honor) . Then take your car to a reputable detailer in your area and get it fixed ( if it fits your acceptable price) or an estimate (if its outrageous). After you do that, either bring the manager the bill or the estimate and the signed paper, then see what happens. Remind them that they have already inconvenienced you twice and it still hasn't been fixed. Remain calm and polite but still apply pressure. If they say no, then go higher up or maybe do none of that and just send HQ your pictures, story and bill of sale. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Whatever you do, don't follow that one guys post who would go to the lot and vandalize other jeeps. Forget about the cops, the jeeps just don't deserve them unless they earn them out in the wild.

Didn't mean it like that - I did say my mean perspective. Point was to make him realize that this dealership doesn't seem to care-he complained about the door handles and they tell him it'll get scratched anyway!?!? That's unacceptable from a dealership. May as well sell you a car with 4 flat tires, you'll eventually need to replace them anyway right? But no, please don't vandalize the beautiful trucks (though that dealership may already have)

Re: Am I being unreasonable?

Any scratches on a new vehicle are unacceptable, when me and my bro went to collect ours it was inbetween a snow storm and a monsoon so the Jeep's didn't really get a full inspection which was a mistake, my Bro's Jeep had a dent near the bottom of the drivers door like it had been opened on something sharp, rang the dealer a day later after seeing it but it was too late, had to pay for someone to remove it, in our defence it only showed up bad in the sun so we probably wouldn't have seen it anyway.

As your dealer knows about your scratches you should get them fixed by a specialist and the dealer should get the bill.

I should at least give them an opportunity.

But at this point I wouldn't feel comfortable letting the dealership get away with a lie without me at least putting up a fight.

It sounds like you have given them the opportunity to resolve this and all they did was throw mismatched touch up paint on the problem. I would let the dealer know you're taking your Jeep to a professional body shop. Once you have settled up with the body shop submit the invoice to the dealer and tell them to reimburse you! The dealer will most likely not want to pay but at least your Jeep is repaired and if you have to fight them to get reimbursed you have proof of their failed attempts to make this right.
Good luck to you!

Sorry to hear your dealer isnt up to the task of fixing some flaws/scratches. I always go over my vehicles with the salesman before I sign the papers and get a due list of anything that needs addressed. Does this dealership have a body shop? The reason I ask is some dealers don't have professional detailers on the payroll or they don't work everyday but usually the ones that have auto body do. I have had dealerships call over a so called "detailer" who really is just a guy who washes cars and has made things worse but the good ones know when to bring in the Pros or farm it out.

Here is my opinion on this

1) stop by a reputable auto body shop that does detailing and ask for an estimate.

2) Return to the dealership and explain you have left it twice to get fixed and both times the experience was unsatisfactory. Show them the estimate and ask them if they will write a check so you can get it done elsewhere.

Good luck!

Re: Am I being unreasonable?

Absolutely not, you purchased a new car, it should come presented like a new car. Dealerships who do present their customers with a quality vehicle deserve to be hassled. I would take it up with the manager, if he does not agree (which I would be surprised if he wouldn't) I would inform him that you'll be sending a report into Jeep/Chrysler about this incident.
