I think most large Chrysler dealers have express lanes now, but as of a couple years ago they still wanted an appointment in New York.
Maybe we have a monopoly on that then. That said, if appointments were really a few weeks out, that's absolutely bizarre and I guess it would be a good reason why there are so many Jeep dealers in my area.

Either that, or they're so swamped with repairs.

When I go to my Acura dealer, the only cars in their service department these days are there for maintenance.

Mazda was the same thing when I had my Mazdaspeed6.

At the Saab/VW dealer though, the place was loaded with VWs in for service. My last visit before I sold my last Saab, there was a guy in front of me with a new Jetta. 200 miles on it. He said the button wouldn't shut the car off anymore. Oops.

Well, you gave them the opportunity! I never understood the back and forth thing? Here is my (you) offer what is yours (dealer) deal no deal.

Guess they are selling too many cars

I dunno. The salesman called me back tonight, said if it doesn't work out with my broker for some reason, he suspects they will have the car for a while. He said they don't sell too many TDI wagons.

They have the '14s coming in, why not sell me the '13 even at a small profit? I'd rather have a '14 anyway (only changes are an LED license plate light and a backup camera, which I view as a necessary safety feature). You'd think they'd deal. Nope.

Re: And so it continues...

Ugh, your ordeals are terrible. It is a g*d damn shame that these vehicles can't be more universally reliable given how nice they are. I'm 3k miles from the end of the warranty on ours, we haven't had troubles 1/10th as bad as yours and I'm shopping...everything else just sucks compared to the GC for the money. I've driven it all...not one vehicle I would choose over the Jeep if it weren't for reliability

Was talking with my wife tonight and to my surprise she had warmed to the idea of trying a new 2014 on a lease to see if we could get luckier next time. These experiences REALLY scare me though.

Damn you Chrysler...I just hate the thought of spending $40-50k on something I don't really like. Not only would I like another Jeep...I'd like to keep the one I friggen already have if I just had confidence it would last until 50k miles without serious expensive electrical repairs!

If I want to pay $4,000. If I add $4,000 to the price of the Jeep I want I could get something else...I could be in a Lexus GX and have no reliability concerns. My 2011 MSRP'd for $39k I paid $32,500, a lifetime warranty with 0 deductible would cost me 12% of the original purchase price of my Jeep, 16% of its value today.

I've had so many little problems any deductible is unacceptable. If I had to pay $100 per claim I'd still be spending $1000+. The other issue is constantly having to take the Jeep back to the dealer, it seems like every time it needs an oil change theres a list of 5-10 things that the dealer needs to address under warranty...

I'll attest to it. Had a 2013 Ecoboost for about. 25k milea until I moved up north (another downfall: horrible in deep snow. Not bad in light snow)... The I-4 2L Constantly got around 26.5-28mpg on the highway doing 65. On a 55mph, I got 30mpg over a 25mi stretch to the airport. At about a 30% city, 30% county and 60% highway I was averaging 23-26mpg.

How long do you think that little 2L will last moving around a 5k pound explorer? I would make sure I had a warranty on that after that 60k mile powertrain warranty expired.

Hahaha about as long as a 14 GC that slams into into 4 of its 8 gears I suppose....no, in all actuality I have no idea. It was far too snowy where I live, I missed 4 days of work because I was snowed in last year so I decided to get a 4wd. But I do believe ford opened at least one new factory dedicated to building the ecoboost engines, and if history is any barometer of a company, ford would seem to be the far more soluble brand... Hence they did not need a bail out and their stock, which went from $2 when Chrysler declared bankruptcy and was bought out by fiat has rocketed to over $16 today (was over $17 last week)..also, ford has sold 1,545,730 vehicles in 2013, in comparison to Jeep's 292,111. Even withstanding the fact that ford sells a wider range of vehicles not just SUVs, it would be fairly safe to say there is more consumer confidence in ford. Now...I left ford for a jeep and certainly like my jeep more (tranny issues and all...), I'm just making the point that ford is still a solid brand, especially for those looking for an SUV that will be more road oriented. If only jeep had an Alan Mulally, it would be an unstoppable brand.
