You don't have that new Overland yet??

Re: And so it continues...

Not yet, still have to get out and drive them and decide what to do.

Ours failed to start on my wife the other day, starter ran on when she pushed the start button and it wouldn't catch. Se had to hold the start button down to get it to stop trying to turn over. Finally she got it started and now it seems fine...so we have to do something sooner rather than later.

Holy Cow, this thread has taken on a life of its own!

Sorry I have not been around much, my head has been in sand, as work has totally consumed my life. n I did go back and read all the posts though.

I am still driving the same overland, so far, so good. It is quirky, though. Like when it starts doing that honk warning that the keys are in the car, even though they are in my pocket and I am a parking lot away.

My stance on my Jeep is this: I like the vehicle a lot, I am completely jaded by the Chrysler/dealer/people involved. Every day I get in it, I feel both happy to drive it, and also like I was just told to bend over.

I sense Jeep's next marketing campaign coming on...

Our transmission has started feeling like it is slipping on occasion. Shouldn't be long now. Paperwork is with ISG.

Maybe you said this in another post that I missed, but did you make a final decision on what is next? Did I read something about a Subaru?

It was going to be a 2014 Forester. Much improved mileage, good space, AWD, top safety ratings... But my broker couldn't find with a black interior with navigation after looking for about 200 miles around. Apparently the first batches are coming over without Nav and the ones with Nav are expected around end of September, beginning of October. We can't wait. And with kids, I am not getting a light-colored interior even if Nav is available.

So we went down the list and decided to go 2014 CR-V EX-L AWD w/Nav (black/black). Cargo area is actually about the same size as GC with seats up, actually bigger with seats down. It's an appliance basically. I actively hate the styling, but hope the functionality will make up for it. I fully expect to have zero issues with it, which will be nice. Broker got a killer deal on it for us. We have to drive 90 minutes to pick it up which is the only part that blows, but since I expect it to be reliable, I don't care from what dealership I get it.

Let the ribbing begin (or actually, continue).

Most of what my kids get in the car is light, bright colored stuff... would stand out like a sore thumb, so the light interior is better for me anyway.

I find it hard to believe the CRV cargo room is comparable to the JGC. I am coming from an RDX, which shares a lot with the CRV, and it was much smaller than the JGC.

Either way, does not matter, so long as you are happy.

I'm thinking more of spills. My youngest is 6 years old and has similarly-aged friends. Our GC already has sunscreen all over the door panels and muddy feet always get on the back of the seats from feet that won't stay on the floor.

I was surprised myself.

Cargo, all seats in place
  • GC - 36.3 cu ft
  • CR-V - 37.2 cu ft
  • RDX - 26.1 cu ft

Cargo, seats down
  • GC - 68.3 cu ft
  • CR-V - 70.9 cu ft
  • RDX - 61.3 cu ft

EPA interior volume
  • GC - 140.5 cu ft
  • CR-V - 138.7 cu ft
  • RDX - 103.5 cu ft

Don't know how it's possible, but those are the figures on Edmunds (RDX seats down and EPA figures are from Acura site). It's like they did a magic trick.

Thinner floors, walls, roof and seats maybe?

All the extra space comes from that bubbled up rear hatch I guess...

Enjoy your new ride in good health, AMC. You deserve it after all that you have been through.

Cheers,
-A

Maybe Jeeps just don't like me. Driving from a meeting in one building to a meeting in another, and tire goes flat. Dammit. only 1400 miles on it.

Obviously a minor problem, but I can imagine every glitch must make your stomach turn.

I hope the meeting went well.

Missed the meeting. But there are always more meetings.

You're right, not a big problem, but it was just frustrating... I would love a month of driving with no issues.
