Jesus, sounds like that dealer isn't doing to well. I would let the GM know about your recent conversation.

He's the sales manager there. I doubt if the SM and GM didn't get along that he'd still be there. Seems like a good old boys club.

Now, about my Jeep:
In other threads, I posted about my 2014 JGC limited I bought in April. I won't rehash all that happened, but lets leave it at: 4 trips to the shop, over 45 days being repaired, and Chrysler finally recently got me out of that vehicle.

So I got a new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Picked it up a week ago. Put about 500 miles on it already. Damn impressive vehicle.

Driving to work today: about a mile away from my house, and I start hearing a faint horn... then I realize it is my jeep. Then the rear windshield wipers start going, on their own. The horn gets louder, and I lose power steering. I pulled over. The check engine light came on, and an oil pressure low warning came on. Then a service air suspension warning came on. Then it cycled through a few more service messages, quickly. All while my horn is blasting. In a residential neighborhood.

I turned the car off. The car restarted. Horn still going. Wipers still going. Hit the button again. Car seems like it is off. Get out.... horn starts blairing, car starts up. WTF?

This older women comes running out of her house, thinking I am in trouble cause I am laying on the horn so much. I can't get the damn thing to stop.

The horn then got quieter... still going, but now more intermittent and nowhere near as loud. Every time the noise starts, the back wiper starts going, but it is stuttering, not going smoothly.

This went on for about an hour as I waited for the tow truck. After about 40 minutes, I get the car to shut off and actually remain off. My poor neighbors.

I have a short 30 second clip of it acting up... it's on my iphone though, so I have to fiddle around to figure out how to post that video here, if anyone is interested. The Service manager was in disbelief when i showed him.

I am in a dodge journey now, and the dealer has my new jeep. I kinda feel like a fool for going back to jeep, after all the issues I had over the last three months.
This is one of the reasons I balked today at ordering mine. I was at the dealer and just could not make up my mind knowing there are all of these problems out there with the 2014 Grand Cherokee and I'm looking at the Summit diesel. I just don't know. My 2006 GC 5.7 Hemi has never seen the dealer for anything other than an oil change.

I wouldn't let a few jeeps out of 200k built this year sway me from getting what I wanted. Go to any makes discussion forum and youll see the same things. Hell....Ive saw a ton more complaints about the 2005-2010 GC's. Ive had 3 of the wk2/wd vehicles myself.....

Salty Dawg is on a distinguished road
I too have decided to pass on concluding a purchase on a 2014 Summit because of all the multitude of issues surrounding this vehicle, dealer support and Chrysler's treatment of customers. Never owned a Jeep but initially was really excited about it.......all the published reviews were generally glowing, lots of cool features, beautiful looking inside and out. I was ready to slap down $57-60,000 plus tax (final price offered by the dealer being $56k plus tax of $7,200/$63,200 all in). I have followed this and other forums very closely and in great depth and I just can't see my way clear to drop this amount of $$$ and essentially take my chances with general "reliability" or worse getting a Lemon! I hear the arguments that these sorts of issues/problems are often typical across many brands on mid-term changes and Chrysler is addressing these on an ongoing basis maybe better than other car makers.

I hear that Jeep owners are more vocal than other brand owners on both the good and bad and that forums generally encourage and attract a disproportionate amount of problems and issues. But, as others have said, there seems to be a lot more going on here with the WK2 than a rational purchaser would or should expect. I for one am not going to roll the dice. Maybe Chrysler will get it's act together and finally identify and fix all the problems that seem to plague this vehicle. If they do I expect the "noise" will die down, but why a manufacturer already carrying a legacy of a reliability albatross would push onto the market a product so obviously lacking in testing and QC is really unbelievable to me. Hopefully, them knowing that potential customers like myself are walking away from purchases will serve a wake-up call. We'll see! In the meant time I'll keep my powder dry, watch forums such as this and see where things go and if indeed things are progressing in a positive direction I would hope those experiencing this would continue to report. It's extremely helpful.

Re: And so it continues...

I also have been reading the posts on the forum. And yes I know Jeep sells a lot of vehicles. I have been thinking of buying a 2014 GC for a while. I think the GC is the best looking SUV out there and would love to own one. But I have to say I am disheartened buy the quality issues I read about here and the lack of good customer service by dealers. It seems that when someone brings their GC into the dealer with a problem all they hear is "that is normal" or they have to bring it in three times to fix a problem. What is really disturbing is that when someone spends a lot of money on a new vehicle and has to put up with that poor customer service or dealers with an attitude like your doing them a favor. I can understand if a new vehicle has a couple of defects or issues and the dealer resolves them, but I don't want constant hard to diagnose problems. It seems like the new GC has so many advanced tech features that it actually needed more development time and Chrysler is using the owners as the final quality control team to flush out remaining problems that should have been detected in the development process of the new GC. It is really sad to see such a great looking, advanced vehicle suffer from these issues. So for now I agree with Salty Dawg, and will just hold on to my 02 Yukon. Hopefully Chrysler will sort out these problems with the vehicle and their dealers and I will change my mind. To all the GC owners out there, you have a great looking vehicle. Don't get me wrong or blast me because I would love to own one. But man.....what's with Chrysler??

Here's my addition to this discussion...

These are being affixed to my 2014 Summit.

Ask me how I feel about my vehicle that, although willing to buy back, Chrysler is going to screw me on royally in the process.

Re: And so it continues...

Very sad. I actually have started to look at other vehicles that I really don't like as much as the GC. I know that the ones with problems are not in the majority, but it appears that there are a lot of problems and unfortunately Chrysler apparently doesn't know how to fix some of them. Best of luck everybody and I admire the looks of your Jeeps.

I too listened to the positive reviews of the JGC and took delivery of my new SRT about 6 weeks ago.
At 500km the heater hose came off draining the coolant and overheating the engine - hose clamp wasn't tightened at the factory.
Rear bumper came loose a week later
Front wheel arch lining wasn't fastened in at factory
Missing trim around ACC sensor on front bumper
Fogging in headlights
Centre console trim fell off within first 4 weeks
Now the adaptive headlight system has failed

All this and with only 1500km on the clock
I have previously owned 3 fords and collectively none of them have been as disappointing as the SRT. Especially when we pay $90k
I would not recommend a Jeep to anyone I considered a friend!!

jeep bashing threads make me in a jeep forum. my 2014 overland is my 2nd Jeep, first brand new car, and other then the fact i think i hate how the AC system wants to do its own thing when switching from auto to manual, i love this thing every time I drive it.

bought it in july, currently about 1500 miles.
