there is a right way and wrong way to do things and there is always a choice. i would have dropped my jeep off and REFUSED to retake possession until ALL issues were fixed. I went in for the parking light** recall , drive 10' and realized my AC was fuc$3d and immediately turned around to make them fix it. Luckily it was just the system having been reset and not everything was back online so to speak and the problem corrected itself within 15 minutes. I'm not saying you didn't do things right, but if your posts show the same demeanor as that was used at the dealership, I can see why your having such poor customer service. at my local dealership, my service dept is top notch, and most of the sales guys as well. I met only 1 sales guy who was a complete idiot, and I learned who I wouldn't contribute to his sales commission but in all, not everyone has had bad cust service.

That's my issue... I don't act like enough of an asshole in person, and as such, they're walking on me. My dealer service manager is too nice a guy to beat up or assault (this happened to him by another angry '14 buyer a few weeks ago), so that's not happening; I feel like my dealer service manager is doing what he can, but is at the mercy of Chrysler.

Sucks your having these issues... Sucks even more that Chry LLC isn't helping to make things better.

In short, my dealer has two invoices open, in total, for the over 47 days my vehicle has been out of commission, invoices kept open due to the number of parts on backorder.
If I read this right, this is incorrect. The vehicle must be out of service for 30 cumulative days, or had numerous SIMILAR repair attempts (they don't have to be exactly the same--just on the same SYSTEM and any lawyer will tell you that) WITHIN the first 12 months or 12,000 miles for non-safety related issues, and WITHIN the first 24 months or 24,000 miles for safety-related defects. Your lemon law rights do NOT terminate after the expiration of those timeframes...in general, you have 1 or 2 years from the end of the "rights period" to file a claim, if you can show the repair attempts and out-of-service times occurred during those periods. This is the general boilerplate--some states have larger periods.

No...absolutely not. ABSOLUTELY NOT...acting like an "asshole" generally makes this process worse. I guarantee you that if you walk into a dealership service department or start talking to Chrysler right off the bat like an entitled ass, your service and your customer relations will be WORSE. I can't tell you the number of times I see people act this way from the get-go and then have a horrible experience. In fact, I'm reasonably certain that's why a lot of people relay horrible experiences...on some level, they are acting like asses, and subsequently being treated like asses.

It's AMAZING how much help you can get if you are firm, but friendly and open. I've managed to get customer service people to do amazing things for me in all aspects simply by being firm on what I wanted/needed, but at the same time relating to them as human beings. Once you do that, they will acknowledge YOU as a human being, making it much harder for them to simply block you as the "asshole that keeps going ballistic" and making a mess.

Honda has had some real issues with their automatic transmissions in the Accord, its well documented and repairs are supported by Honda.

Look at the number of people within the forum having chronic problems though. If you spend time on Honda/Toyota/Subaru etc forums and here as I do...the difference is quite striking. Like I've said, with the Jeep its not really something as cut and dried as a habitually problematic transmission, its electrical problems that manifest themselves differently depending on the owner, are very hard to diagnose, hard to repair, and pop up time after time. When there are issues, owners are treated like criminals for trying to get Chrysler to step up.

I'd almost rather have a transmission fail at 45k miles than the nagging problems I've had with the Jeep. At least its only one service visit.

those makes DO NOT have the forum following that Jeeps have...especially the econ box platforms. You act as if NONE of us have ever owned anything but Jeeps.....

Thats absolutely not true.

ToyotaNation.com has 311,000 members
YotaTech.com has 123,000 members

Then you have all the individual forums like TundraTalk.net with 78,000 members, TacomaWorld.com has 73,000 members.

ClubLexus.com has 220,000 members, LexusOwnersClub.com has 150,000 members

Thats just Toyota and thats just the surface.

JeepGarage has 47,000 members. This is a great forum, nice and active but it is not a huge forum by far. JeepForum.com has 419,000 members but the WK2 section here is much better.

Re: And so it continues...

Update. In reply to the customer service gripes, yes Chrysler has deplorable customer service. I spent 5 months fighting for a buyback, (without a lawyer). The dealers can only do so much, they are at the mercy of Chrysler just like the customer.

On a slightly better note, Chrysler finally bought back my march build. Picked up a new Limited 4x4 yesterday. Yes I had to spend money out of my pocket since the base MSRP price went up$300. Yes I feel like i got completely screwed after months and months of heartache and effort, not to mention driving dodge avengers and a compass for weeks on end, I had to give Chrysler $300 plus sales tax for a new vehicle. A few forum members have also recently had replacement vehicles, it's a testament to our loyalty as customers, we got screwed and still decided to come back for more. I am taking my chances, hoping lightning won't strike the same place twice, at the end of the day it's still the best car my wife of I have ever owned.

My original vehicle was one of the few that had a grounding issue that took 4 dealer visits to resolve, ended up cascading through the entire vehicle. I truly believe that if it wasn't for the grounding issue, the cars problems would have been resolved...eventually, yes we suffer the learning curve as early adopters, however performing QA/QC wasn't what any of us signed up for when we gave Chrysler a lot of $ for a new car.

Having owned a Datsun 2000 and a Mazda RX7, I would beg to respectfully disagree on their presumed lack of problems, manufacturing quality or design based.

Not saying the Jeeps are spotless examples of quality, but I cannot think of a single brand not plagued by "oops"
