Must be. Maserati owners wouldn't stand for having to press a button 4 times to open a liftgate.

Or it could be that they expect JNAP to be running at full capacity turning out the JGC, Durango, and eventually the Wagoneer.

For the amount of Maserati SUV's they project to sell, it would have been easy to slip them into production with the WK2's, Durangos and Waggoneers. BUT Sergio knew better.

Nope BOB wrong again. It would be nice if you had just one positive post. The plan was scraped due to the off the charts demand for the Grand Cherokee. There just is not enough capacity for another vehicle in that plant. By the way do you really think your having to push the button 4 times has something to do with it being assemble at JNAP?

JP, just so you are aware, the 4 button press to open thing is just as sad as it is funny. It has been frustrating Bill and a few others around for a while, so we slide it in there occasionally in jest. I don't think it was meant in the severity that you think but more tongue in cheek...

Now as for the build location decision, I am sure we could ask. The answer is probably much more complicated than anyone knows, but there is no reason JNAP couldn't build something like that in the future.

With something like a Maserati there's a great deal of heritage at work when a consumer decides to buy one. I don't see a Maserati purchaser being thrilled about their Maserati being built at JNAP alongside the GC. Being on the GC's platform is bad enough.

Theres a cache about it being "built in Italy".

I certainly don't disagree about the perception problem. However we are referring to the Mercedes ML platform for all of them. So even though that might share with the Jeep Grand Cherokee I don't think the Maserati buyer has issue with that. The ML platform is very respected globally.

Thanks Willx, yes my comments may have seemed a little harsh, but it was directed at bobswk2 not bill. I understand some of the issues can be frustrating, but it would be nice to hear a positive comment when they do come up with the fix for it. When every single post has some negative twist to it gets a little old.

But the vehicle is being built by Chrysler, the emphasis is going to be with the shared platform with the GC not the ML. Look at all the press so far, the discussion is about the similarities with the Jeep, the ML is not even mentioned.

Ride's been alright. still quirky, and I got that recall notice on it, but i'd rather deal with my instrument cluster going black than the previous issues I have had.

It's fantastic when working well though. The V6 is surprisingly quick once it is broken in properly.

Outside of that, work has been busy (glad to be working though) and the kids are awesome.

How's things by you?

Stupid busy. Got my own now so I am pretty happy about that!

Glad to hear everything is pretty OK with you.
