I hope you find something that works well for you. Have you checked out the 13 MDX's? they have a lot of incentives, to make room for the 14's...

As for me, I am not sure what to do now. If they give me back the Jeep without replacing anything other than the cracked drainage, then I am not going to trust it at all. Just doesn't seem right. Trying to call them now...

I guess you learn how to handle it because you have to, but I don't even know what I would do at this point. I think it's my greatest nightmare -- going through all this to get my vehicle bought back, and then to have something like this happen again.

Is your VIN in the 200K's? It's not another "early" build is it?

Jeez, I really hope that this is the only issue for you. But now you're on that eggshells thing again.

And Chrysler just calling the dealer kind of reinforces the notion that most of the power is in the dealer's hands.

You don't know how much I hope this gets fixed for you. No one should be in this club.
That's a big step down going into a Terrain.

Re: And so it continues...

Talking about computers and rain and drain plugs made me reminisce about this incident long ago with the DIVAD "Sgt. York" Anti Aircraft vehicle.

Quote:
In February 1982 the prototype was demonstrated for a group of US and British officers at Fort Bliss, along with members of Congress and other VIPs. When the computer was activated, it immediately started aiming the guns at the review stands, causing several minor injuries as members of the group jumped for cover. Technicians worked on the problem, and the system was restarted. This time it started shooting towards the target, but fired into the ground 300 m in front of the tank. In spite of several attempts to get it working properly, the vehicle never successfully engaged the sample targets. A Ford manager claimed that the problems were due to the vehicle being washed for the demonstration and fouling the electronics. In a report on the test, Easterbrook jokingly wondered if it ever rained in central Europe.
Nothing like a pair of 40mm auto cannons controlled by a remote ancestor of ED-209 swinging your way to get the blood pumping.

So, just some color commentary on the whole situation regarding water and computers in vehicles.

I believe you have the missed the entire point of this thread and discussion. Would you rather have a Bentley which does not run and can not be fixed or a VW Bug which runs flawlessly? There's an old story about luxury cars and a "captain of industry". Without boring you with the whole story, the bottom line is that the true luxury car is the car that is always there when you need it.

Bingo!

I would miss the Uconnect system very much, and the awesome feel and room of the GC, but the Denali version of the Terrain seems pretty well equipped as far as not being a "step down."

Dunno. I still haven't checked one out. Will probably go during lunch today.

Really, I can't go through what I've gone through again, and I know the odds are long.. I really feel for @marosenb. I just can't imagine it.

Re: And so it continues...

So they replaced a drainage hose. Left the computer module alone. Told me they wanted to replace it, but Chrysler said no, it would be fine.

They test drove it for two miles, and the module shorted out.
They are now getting a new module and putting it in. Hopefully have it back to me early next week.

At least this time is had its issues while they still had it, rather than giving it back to me and letting me find the problems.

At least they know what the problem is. It makes it a lot easier to get it fixed correctly. Hopefully they take care of you with an extended warranty or something. Is this a lease or a purchase?

After my experiences last time, I decided to just lease...

Smart man! Glad it broke while they had it, definitely!

Didn't see your bit about the MDX's, but even at a pretty decent discount, they're probably above my price range. Also, the mileage is pretty bad and (ugh) premium fuel.

Still looking for alternatives, probably cheaper ones. But I did contact a broker about the GC as it seems like Browns is not returning my emails anymore. Fourth time trying to get them to sell me a car and they don't want to. Heh. Maybe it's a sign.
