Re: And yet another JEEP recall announced today

Question is.... where is this 'Relay' that fails? IN the TIPM, or elsewhere? Are they just blaming the TIPM and replacing it and not fixing the relay?
I have MaxCare, so it is costing me $100, unless they release the recall before they can actually get the part and install it.

It's in the TIPM. Replacing the entire TIPM with the revised one solves the problem, but the recall is just to jumper a new relay outside the TIPM. That's the fix they did to mine this week- you can see it peeking out between the TIPM and the fender.

It seems some people's dealers are replacing the whole thing, but my guess is that as the news about the add on relay gets out that's going to be the usual fix going forward.

It DOES fix the problem, it may just not leave you feeling as warm and fuzzy as a whole new (nondefective) TIPM. But hey, as long as it works and Chrysler stands behind it, I can get over it.

Re: And yet another JEEP recall announced today

My dealer responds to my calls for an appointment to remedy recall deficiencies by saying, "We'll order the parts for you, then call you to make an installation appointment."

This has been going on since late spring!! I'm calling around to see if other dealers will service my Jeep w/o snarky comments, etc.

Re: And yet another JEEP recall announced today

OK so on Sept 29th my 2013 JGC would start but shut off right away which was happening for a few days. So I decided to bring it to the dealer and I advised them about all the talk about the TIPM needing to be replaced. Which they agreed to do without hesitation at no cost to me. I got my truck back on Oct 2nd and everything seemed fine. On Oct 3rd my truck had the same issues again where it would start for a few seconds then shut off. Then it wouldn't turn on at all for about 30min. So I brought it back to the dealer and now on Oct 6th they still have not been able to duplicate the issue. Any ideas. Oh and the TIPM part they put in was #68244870AA
