I also have the quadra lift suspension and the TSB fixed my squeak from the rear suspension also. Are we sure the quadra lift air suspension includes load leveling shocks?

There smarter then that... There two different shocks. Maybe load leveling is only for people with the tow package and quadra lift, which I believe all V8's came with in 2011. Are most of you v6 with no tow package?

I have the V-6, I'll have to verify if I have the tow pack or not...

Yes, I do plan on taking it to dealership for an assessment, but I was hoping you guys can give me some opinions. I read couple of posts with similar problems, but I don't know if that could be it. Couple of days ago I've noticed a rattle coming from which I believe to be right rear side of the vehicle. The rattle/squeaky noise is very pronounced when driving slowly over uneven surfaces or bumps. It is also there when I move vehicle from side to side. I tried to eliminate the possibility of stuff rubbing against each other in the back by removing everything including spare tire removal kit and black plastic things around the spare tire. I also checked if the tire was properly secured and it is. With all of that done, the squeaky rattling noises are still there....Very annoying that this is happening on brand new vehicle. Your help and opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Do you have a tow package? If so, I noticed that on my 2011 JGC the plastic surrounding of the factory opening where the tow hitch is at on the bumper rattles around the metal bumper. I basically did the same thing you did to find the problem but I told my wife to knock on everything to find the problem and that made the exact noise. I took it to the dealer and told them; they said it was part of the design. The technitian gave me a roll of sticky side foam and I applied it to some spot under the plastic bumper cover and it actually fixed the problem.

Re: Annoying Rear Rattle

This my sound too simple but I had a licence plate frame that was vibrating on the bottom end with the tailgate. My solution was to attach velcro on the frame on the inside underneath the frame.

Re: Annoying Rear Rattle

I had a couple of very minor noises. Sort of a faint rattling, rustle noise coming from the headliner/sunroof area - and another one at the rear of my 2012 Laredo X. My findings:

* Front headliner. While checking for loose pieces, I cycled my sunroof open and inspected the perimeter of the opening. I found a 3" long piece of black "paper" adhesive backed tape (like the stuff they wrap wiring harness with) that was sitting loose with just the tip of one end attached to the plastic trim right above the driver's head/corner of the opening (right at the red arrow). This was actually moving and "tapping/flapping" between the roof and the headliner. This piece of tape was 100% concealed by the headliner and I could not see it until I stood on a ladder and looked down through the sunroof from outside. Once I found it, I was able to sit in the drivers seat - reach up and find it with my hand. One pull and it came right off. I also found a loose tie-wrap in the same area and tightened it. Also, just after this photo, I "snapped" the open fastener back together (bottom center - note the wire in the way that I pushed back then pushed up on the headline, snapping the connector back together). No more noise. Here is a photo of the area after I removed the tape and tightened the tie-wrap (you can just make the tie-wrap out in the photo, I cut off the excess tail on the tie-wrap), but before moving the wire and resnapping the connector (blue arrow).

* Rear. My antenna was quite loose. I could move it back and forth by hand, and I could see a very slight gap between the rubber antenna bottom and the plastic piece it attaches to. I removed it, added a little di-electric grease and then reinstalled & screwed it tight (you could hear a detent, rubber "clicking" noise as I tightened it), but not over-tight. After it was tight, the back and forth "looseness" was gone. And so was the rattle noise on the freeway.

A side benefit is that I discovered that both the FM and Sirius radio quality improved noticeably. I used to have to turn the volume up when going from CD or HDD to FM or Sirius. I no long have to adjust the volume, and the slight "static" noise I had on FM and particularly Sirius is no longer there.

Best luck.

Re: Annoying Rear Rattle

subscribed for updates. started noticing similar sound, getting hard to ignore. i wanna sit in the trunk and have my wife drive. so far it sounds like its coming from the flapper glass or tailgate, or maybe the part where it locks like someone else posted here. will try to investigate.

This is very true... especially since I think the WK2 only has two license plate bolt holes.

On my XK and my Subaru, I placed the dealers temporary license placard (appears to be a coated paperboard) behind the license plate and bolted the plate fast with four fasteners. There have been absolutely no rattles from the tailgate. I do not use any license plate frames.

I've got the rattle coming from the rear too. It happens going slow over joints in road or fairly consistently at or above 75 MPH. Going to the dealership Monday. I have many rattles and clunks. While the WK2 looks better than the WK. Quality is still crap.

Re: Annoying Rear Rattle

I had this problem a few days ago doing a test drive for a brand new 2012 overland before buying it......!!! It was the R. rear shock absorber...!!!! Dealer admits on first test !!

Re: Annoying Rear Rattle

I have a 2012 GC Overland 6cyl with 2k miles, I noticed a squeak or rattle that sounded as though it were coming from the lift gate, so I sat in the back while my wife drove around and realized the sound was coming from the rear passenger side but I could not find it's origin. The sound became worse and was driving me crazy (I hate cars w/ squeaks or rattles) so I took it in late last week, it took the tech a long time, but he determined that the right rear shock absorber is the cause of the noise. Of course they didn't have any in stock, so they ordered the part and when it gets in they will call me so we can set up an appointment to swap out the shock. Hopfully this takes care of the problem, i'll keep you guys posted.
