The sound became worse and was driving me crazy (I hate cars w/ squeaks or rattles) so I took it in late last week, it took the tech a long time, but he determined that the right rear shock absorber is the cause of the noise. Of course they didn't have any in stock, so they ordered the part and when it gets in they will call me so we can set up an appointment to swap out the shock. Hopfully this takes care of the problem, i'll keep you guys posted.
Did it make the noise all the time when driving or only over certain road surfaces?

Re: Annoying Rear Rattle

Hello everyone. I refrained from posting here until I actually take my vehicle to a dealership so they can find out what the actual problem is. First let me thank you all for posting in this thread and giving me and other readers suggestions to what the problem may be. Last week I drove my Jeep to a local dealership. I was told that it was rear shock absorber. After waiting nearly a week for the part to come in it was finally replaced today. The annoying rubbing noise is gone!

Re: Annoying Rear Rattle

The noise is extremely apparent when traveling at slow speeds over an uneven surface. The noise did not occur when we test drove it nor when we took delivery of the vehicle.

I completely agree. My WK was lifted quite high with big heavy tires and wheels, a heavy duty suspension, and it rattled less. Although this one looks great, i'm getting aggrevated. But I'm having a hard time finding any other SUV of it's size, with it's power and towing (plus offroad capability) that doesn't cost as much as a V8 Land Rover... Just kind of stuck in a bad spot, not to mention I don't want to lose so much money.

So I was just at the dealership with my issues and they confirmed that this fix was only for non-load levelling suspensions. So they wouldn't even perform the fix.
