Re: Another jeep recall!!

Interestingly, when picking up my car from the dealer and speaking to the service manager about TSB's and bulletins, he is of the opinion they only apply these when they absolutely have to ie. told to by Jeep. In many instances the fix is for an issue that has "occurred" to someone and is applied when the issue presents.

If the issue does not occur, he is loathe to apply the fix because he has found it will create other issues.

Re: Another jeep recall!!

I got the the darn letter yesterday!
I really don't want it have it done.

Speaking of headliner, Uconnect and Chrysler tech support want to have the antenna worked on and possibly replaced due to some issues I have had since day 1...does the headliner have to be dropped to replace the antenna? If so, may just live with both issues.

I had the sharkfin antenna problem early on and had mine replaced under a TSB. I don't believe they had to drop the headliner to do the fix. At least I see no indication that they had.

That's right! Good point. The sunroof motor's inboard and outboard bearing pad temp sensors are connected to this. A F'd up fozjam means the sunroof will malfunction. I wonder what the trouble code for that is?

Re: Another jeep recall!!

Yeah, that fix is pretty safe compared to some of the others. If you look for the TSB they should describe the procedure in it.

I Tried to look it up in the TSB and didn't notice anything really on the headliner having to come down and their diagram is for the old style antenna. I did notice the labor rates were somewhat low if it did involve the headliner removal ...but just wasn't sure. Thanks again.

Re: Another jeep recall!!

You're welcome, and good luck! The dealer should be able to confirm it for sure one way or the other.

Re: Another jeep recall!!

they don't take the headliner out to replace shark fin they can get to it by that plastic panel near it. I had that fish fin done its pretty painless they did a good job could not even tell they had messed with it.

Yeah, I didn't think they had to on mine either. I would've noticed.
