Re: Another Recall - Vanity Mirror Lamp

I got mine last Friday. I am a newby still and posted a thread about "how many recalls are too many." It says 1.6 hours but some vehicles will take longer. I did have the brake booster done and mine had a crack in it so the whole brake booster was replaced with sheik aded. I live in a Lake Snow belt below Lake Ontario. When I got my Jeep back no lose screws or rattling so far but greasy hand prints all over the paint on the drivers door. This doesn't inspire much confidence as the tech looked to be about 16 years old. I don't use the vanity mirrors, but I bought this used and its obviously the lady realtor used it a lot as her mascara tipped fingers made a few marks. I really don't want them monkeying around with the whole roof panels. I have a dash cam that I fed the wiring around the windshield and obviously that job will have to be redone after they make any fix.

With my service contract, I have had the HVAC blower replaced, a cooling system motor and a wheel sensor. As the vehicle ages its expected to have some thing needing repair, but this seems excessive. This is my 20th vehicle at age 46, and the only vehicle that needed more servicing was a 1978 Volkswagen Dasher, a giant mistake, but a first car. A 1992 Ford Taurus was at about the same level with trips to the dealer. I do most of the main maintenance stuff myself with my FIL assistance. Just changed fluids in transfer case and differentials. Its still a very nice Jeep, and I still owe a few more years. Its very frustrating as the dealers around here a fairly terrible to work with.

Re: Another Recall - Vanity Mirror Lamp

Got my notice in the mail yesterday. Wife literally yelled out "WTF another one!?" I refuse to take this to my local dealer especially after the disaster they caused with the last recall and warranty work, so time to seek out another shop. Doubt I want to go and get this done though since I can easily see the dealer rushing the job to meet the time permitted for this recall and damaging the vehicle.

Re: Another Recall - Vanity Mirror Lamp

I'm in even less of a hurry to have this done as I am for the brake booster recall.

Re: Another Recall - Vanity Mirror Lamp

If you have problems with your dealership take it to a different one. I've had no problems with my dealership at all. Noticed scratches on instrument panel when first bought replaced no problem, bowed lift gate handle replaced no problem, 1st recall allong with replacement of radio no problem, 2nd recall no problem. Every time I have been up there which it was just those few times they have looked up available tsb's and have applied them.

Re: Another Recall - Vanity Mirror Lamp

I received the brake booster recall about a month ago and the dealer said I'm number 42 on September 5th. They've only received 8 booster replacements in the last month.

Re: Another Recall - Vanity Mirror Lamp

The Jeep owner's site says parts are available for both the booster and visor repairs. My dealer says that I'm about #50 on his list for the booster with no parts coming in.

Maybe its because of the rumored revised booster shield (revision to shield some already got from recall repair) that is causing the delay in parts availability?
