anti-freeze leak again

So I got my antifreeze leak fixed by the dealership under warranty 4 months ago by replacing the radiator. All good up until about a couple weeks ago. I noticed a coolant smell. So finally investigated it and it's leaking from on top of the water pump area around which seems to be a plastic nipple with a cap or screw. Can this cap or screw beat tightened? Should I even attempt to tighten it or should I just bring it back to the dealership? Why would this particular area leak?

I can't answer your specific question. However, thes water pumps sure go bad early and often. You likely need the dealer to replace your water pump with a new one. The thermostat should also be replaced, and the serpentine belt inspected.

That is a bleed screw used when changing your thermostat. I just did mine as it was running cold and stuck open. cam with the whole assembly. You should be able to tighten a little

I tried tightening it and it only budged like an 1/8 of an inch, still leaks. Maybe I will try backing it out instead. If it's leaking does that mean the water pump or something else is going bad?

No, just means the bleed screw is not sealing. Have you changed your thermostats yet. If not order it with the whole assembly. What year and mileage?

Re: anti-freeze leak again

This is still under warranty- I would have the dealer look at it.

Had it at the dealership today. Replaced thermostat housing under warranty. No more leak.

Re: anti-freeze leak again

Keep an eye on it. Dealer replaced the thermostat in my 2012 and a week or so later a white cloud rushed out from under the hood and coolant was everywhere under the hood; and I had to get it towed to the dealer and then they replaced the water pump which did finally fix the problem.
