One of the features of the WK2 is the removable lower front fascia (aka lower air dam), and the manual says it is easy to remove with bare hands- 7 quarter turn fasteners.
According to the manual, if one is going rock hopping hardcore enough to pull the lower fascia, then it might also be wise to remove the adaptive cruise control module (yes, I know it isn't out yet, but bear with me on this one). According to the publicity pics, that ACC module is dead center between the tow hooks. Therefore, I'm assuming that the lower fascia is pretty much everything from that opening on down.
Has anybody pulled theirs off or even just found good pics of that area with it removed? I ask because I'm thinking about adding the tow hooks to my WK2 when it shows up, and it is looking like pulling that fascia will give very easy access to that area of the vehicle (in other words, make it a piece of cake to self-install). When I get mine I can have a look, but an internet search hasn't revealed any pictures of that area with the fascia removed, so this might be an opportunity to do some original research.
