Anyone else see this on their WK2? Weather strip (?) peeling.

I noticed last weekend when washing the Jeep that the weather striping, if that's the right word for this, is peeling off from the body. This is on both sides.

This is right under the windscreen glass and above the hood. This piece (I think) is supposed to prevent water from draining inside the engine compartment. I will be calling the dealer today to get an appointment for this, but I was wondering if anyone else has/had this issue.

Cheers,
-A

No issue on mine. What did the dealer say/do?

Re: Anyone else see this on their WK2? Weather strip (?) peeling.

Yup,I had it,both sides.
Used a hair drier to warm it up and removed glue, cleaned with rubbing alcohol, applied 3M double sided tape to affix.
Better than original and avoided some 16 yr old kid at the dealer breaking something else.
Cheers

@Rage: I haven't called the dealer yet... been crazy busy at work to take some time off and drop it off at the dealer.

I will perhaps bring this up when I go for my next oil change or end up doing what ernestd did.

Re: Anyone else see this on their WK2? Weather strip (?) peeling.

My design must be a little different (Feb. 2011 build). There is no glue. The rubber just forms sort of a cup. If any water flowed over it, it would just go inside the fender and to the ground. I don't see a problem.

Mine looks like the pics in the OP as-well.

Re: Anyone else see this on their WK2? Weather strip (?) peeling.

Quick Update: Took it to the dealer this morning and they replaced the "cowl" under warranty. They had 2 other WK2 in the service bay and both of them had the same problem of the cowl peeling.

Cheers,
-A
