Thanks.

Mine seem to work well. I used them quite a bit on a 15 hour drive over Thanksgiving. There was a time or two when they would swipe across out of nowhere (not raining and no mist on window), but otherwise they always activated when it started to rain and the speed increased as the intensity of rain increased.

Re: Anyone with rain sensing wipers?

Same experience as Jason. They have always come on when it starts raining, and speed increases as amount of water on windshield increases. While I have had a couple random swipes when the windshield no longer needed it (ie. after a rain was done) I have never had just a random swipe when everything was completely dry (ie. no rain situations).

So I'm assuming that as you turn the knob from off to low (in the intermittent area) you are increasing or decreasing sensitivity?

Re: Anyone with rain sensing wipers?

I believe that in auto mode the sensitivity is controlled by the force of the rain hitting the windshield. They will speed up and slow down accordingly. The knob turns them on or off and also allows you to control the intermittent speed manually so you can, for example, make them faster even if it is just a light rain.

Re: Anyone with rain sensing wipers?

i was told not to rain-x or aquapel the sensor area on glass, it can affect it. my BMW has the auto rain sensors too, it works pretty good.

Re: Anyone with rain sensing wipers?

I have them, but turned them off.

I was never happy with how fast they were going at certain times, so I'd rather just do it myself.

Re: Anyone with rain sensing wipers?

Got them as well. The work perfectly. For me it's a set it and forget it. Haven't need to change the settings. They work just as good and even better than anyother vehicles we've had with them.

Same here. I have had my Overland since December 2010 and have always had the rain sensing option on. Works just right for me.

Re: Anyone with rain sensing wipers?

just make sure you turn it off before going to the car wash ,i saw one with the blades and arms ripped off because they left the ignition on to get the vehicle in neutral

I use a drive thru (Mikes) car wash and never had that happen. Here is what the owners manual says and so far I have not had a problem.

I will agree it is a good idea to turn them off but I don't half the time.

From Owners Manual:

Transmission In NEUTRAL Position When the
ignition is ON, and the transmission is in the NEUTRAL
position, the Rain Sensing system will not
operate until the wiper switch is moved, vehicle speed
is greater than 5 mph (8 km/h), or the shift lever is
moved out of the NEUTRAL position.

Re: Anyone with rain sensing wipers?

I usually have them turned on and they work fine. But the best time is when there is light rain on a two lane highway and you just need slow speed, UNTIL semi trucks heading your way throw up a sudden wall of blinding spray. Love the way the wipers kick into high speed all by themselves for a few seconds.
